HEy, im new to the forums, and ive been searching around the web and having trouble figuring out my problem. I got a 92 GSX Eclipse it was running fine on friday, now it wont start. We checked the plugs and wires, they where due for a change, i bought new plugs and wires figuring that might be it..nope. Well after hours of looking, we come to the conclusion when we would try and crank the car over, anti freeze would leak out my friend said right above the crank pulley and harmonic balencer. So somewhere in the engine in. He said it could he isnt positive but his only thing is that the waterjacket is bad, which could have damaged the block, *the motor only has 50k miles on it also* Or he said it just may be a simple thing as a head gasket, or gasket problems. That is what our conclusion has come to so far, so i decided to check the forums, and see if anyone else might no. Any help would be great, cause if its simple i would love to have my car back up and running my next weekend.

Do a compression check. Is there any coolant mixed in with the oil or vice versa?

i havent tried a compression test yet mainly reason i dont have a compression guage. But i dont think there is coolant mixed with oil i cant keep the car running long enough to circulate. But i finally did get the car started with some starting fluid but then it would die. I maybe thinking the injectors could be bad, not shooting fuel into the motor. iono im still stumped.

So you're saying on Friday it worked, but on Sunday it didn't. When you try starter fluid it fires, but it quickly quits. First thing is to check for any codes from the ECU (which should still be good since you had spark to ignite the starter fluid). Next is to check your fuel pressure, it can't start if there's no fuel. If you have fuel and spark and starter fluid coaxes it, then it should run, however badly.

PS. How long has it been since the timing belts were replaced? Try popping the top cover and looking at the main timing belt to see if it looks in good shape or poor.

my brother checked the timing belts, he said they look pretty good almost brand new. Im going to my friends garage tomorrow to start completely working on it. I had to take it there cause someone already broke into my car. when i only had it for 2days, 2morrow ill beable to have more time working on now since ive got the rest of the week off from work...just a question i put some gas in it, now im not sure on what is good gas for this car, i was told to use 89 but not sure. i use 93 in my firebird but its also a 6cyl.

My personal experience with my '90 is that 89 octane is dubious, but regardless, it will run, even if not optimally.

so i got bored and pulled the valve cover off couple days ago and there is coolant on my springs and what not. Im not sure if its a head gasket, Cracked head or block, but whatever it is its ###### gonna be exspensive...

It sounds like a head gasket. Was it smoking when you had it running? I would pull the head get it resurfaced and put a mls head gasket in with a new water pump timing belt and tensioners from mitsubishi.

thats what i was thinking, when it was running it was smoking from the exhuast, i hope this is just a head gasket cause i dont wanna spend the money on these parts, and it turns out to be a cracked head or block, but the only way to find out is get it tested or take it to someone who can tell me.

well, tomorrow im starting the tear down, but i was wondering if i can get some help on some parts.

What are some good Head,Intake, and exhaust gaskets, some good injectors that arnt to pricey. I was also wondering does ARP make Valve Cover Bolts to cause im gonna replace them also.

Standard NAPA gaskets are fine for the non-head gaskets, and you don't need to change your injectors or valve cover bolts. If any of the head bolt holes are stripped, then you'll need to get helicoils installed. If you bump up the injector size, then there are a number of other issues/expenses to embrace (the OE ECU is designed to support the OE 450cc injectors, not larger).

i need to get some valve cover bolts, cause my idiot friend lost some of em. Im not looking to get bigger injectors just some factory 450cc Ill try and take a pic of em, the lil black peice and the end on 1 is broke. *not sure what its called drawing a blank* but i need new injectors just seeing if any recomendations of brands of factory size...or just get some from like NAPA cuase autozone was gonna charge me $200 a peice for OE injectors.

Darn, bummer about the problems :(. Well, if it were me, I'd probably go with a set of CVU for about $200 for the four, but others may have stronger views on the subject :)!

i finally took my head up to Slowmotion Motorsports, and they checked out the head and just from a quick look they said it needs resurfaced, and cleaned up..but the guy noticed this lil mark on the valves..he said i might need some new valves, becuase they could be bent. He wasnt sure untill they took the head appart completley, i was wondering if i need some new valves what are some good brands, im having trouble finding some except OEM replacment valves. Ive always heard good things about Ferra Valves but i can find any for my car....any recomendations
