When i Do a pressure test on my ic setup, my BOV leaks alittle, keeping my pressure during the test from going over 15lb. IF i put my finger in the bov and hold the piece inside down it will hold the pressure. I have a greddy BOv, is this a serious problem, or no?
Justin

You are aware that it is adjustable correct? Tightening the top screw allows it to hold more pressure before leaking.

that's not what's happening .. it's leaking from the surface-to-surface contact.

have you tightened it down like 4x4 is asking? if not.. you may want to do that :| :) if you have.. try taking it off and either replacing the gasket and/or put RTV in that biatch. if that doesn't work, and you're leaking from the actual blow off valve.. tighten her up

By his original post he says he can keep it from leaking by sticking his finger inside and holding the "thing" down. The thing I am assuming is the valve inside. That would mean to me that it is not a surface to surface flange leak.

okay reread his post..and now it doesn't make sense

how can you put your finger IN the BOV is it's mounted to the car? and if the BOV is out of the car, and you can put your finger in the plunger, how can you test if it leaks?

if the screw [ on top ] is where it's leaking you have a problem. my friend with a turbo mr2 is having the same problem, only the screw popped out during out test drive OMG

OK, sorry for the delay, engine swap is takin up my time
i have the greddy wihtout the recirc. hose. so i can put my finger in the bov and hold the vent closed. I tightened it down to the point where it wasn't ventin when i let off the gas, and it still leaked during the test. I have been told that the (diaphram) ? can go bad on these bov's and will need to be replaced?
Anyone else hear of this?
Justin

If you are pushing it down from the inside and it is sealing I doubt it is the diaphram .

Take it apart and look for any cuts or dry rot on the diaphram.

Sometimes the inside gets gunked up and needs a cleaning. May be dirty and sticking a little.

BTW a new diaphram was about 90 bux last time I looked.

If the diaghram is ripped the bov would be relying mostly on spring pressure to hold it shut. That may not be enough. It can't hurt to take the top off and take a look. It has happened to these bovs before.
