Bov flutter problem...

I've had this problem for a while and cannot figure it out. I have a vented Tial bov and it doesn't seem to release correctly.I had a 11psi spring in it and changed to a 9psi and it didn't seem to help at all. When I release the gas under boost, it just seems to flutter and it goes between vacuum and boost. I have an internal wastegate that goes to an intake port because the turbo doesn't have a nipple on the turbo housing. Both the Bov and wastegate have their own separate vacuum lines that go to the intake. Could the problem be having the wastegate running to the intake with the bov and wastegate fighting each other?

I want to run more boost but until I figure what's going on, I am stuck....

I could be wrong but I think flutter is caused by the spring not being tight enough..YOu know how we like it tight..

I had the 11psi spring on it and switched to the white 9psi. I was thinking that it wasn't opening up good enough to also the air out causing the fluctuating problem?

Tighten the spring on your bov. That should fix it.

Excuse me for being a newbie but how do I do that? It's a Tial 50mm Bov so is the vacuum nipple on top adjustable?

What is your vacuum with no boost/vacuum leaks?

15-16 steady warmed up. I am running FP3 cams.

The boost leak tester that I used recently wasn't sealing tight enough on the turbo. I will have to try a different one just to be sure the tester isn't the issue. Do you think a boost leak would cause the problem in the log?

Sounds like there is definitely a boost leak. Could be at the bov or anywhere else something was changed or modified.

If the valve is too loose it will leak. Too tight and it will not open and cause flutter.


O.P.- check the vacuum line going to the BOV and verify that there are no leaks, and that you're not teeing a bleeder-style MBC into the BOV line.
