Hello all, i bought a DSM from a DSM tuners listing.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/600whp-95-gsx-might-need-rebuild.479720/

I need some advice whether to replace the motor with a 6bolt or to rebuild the 7 bolt.

Im not sure what all i could reuse if I went the 6bolt route.

I would hate to have the 7bolt crank walk on me if it would to be rebuilt however im not sure switching to a 6bolt and having to buy all new parts for it would be smart either.

Is there anything that can be done to the 7bolt to prevent crankwalk?

I need some opinions or advise. Please and thank you

It will come down to money, do you have lots of it? If not rebuild the motor you currently have.
If you do by a 6 bolt(if that's what you have to have) and completely build it. Honestly the 7 bolt is just fine.

I figure with more horsepower it would increase the chance of a crank-walk. I dont have much money, but can afford 3,000 in the rebuild.

Thanks for the post

Rebuild the 7 bolt and just do it right. People cut corners and push the limits of parts and that's where problems happen. If you really have $3k to rebuild you should be able to come out with a solid 7 bolt. Find an experienced DSM engine builder, give them the money/parts, and enjoy the car.

Its a 2.4L Stroker I wouldn't worry about crank walking, you are going to enjoy the torque since you are awd and will hook well with the right setup:cool:. If its just a bearing that he is hearing then I would check it out, more than likely an easy fix, if you pull the motor you have a chance to go through everything that you want, inspect it and see if everything checks out. Why waste 3k more on an engine that you haven't pulled and might need 1 simple thing.

Agreed!! High HP does not cause CW anyway, Normally you can expect it on a poorly rebuilt 7-bolt 4g63 that has walked before or one without the corrected bearings using a stiff clutch and not having the Clutch safety switch bypassed (increasing startup where on the mains without Oil Pressure. You have a 4g46 7-bolt built by Magnus get it fixed, break it in and enjoy.

I appreciate everyone's response. I have the car my buddies shop White Racing, they specialize in Grand Nationals and there fastest one goes 5sec in the 1/4. He is new to these motors but i trust his work and know he will do a great job. I will keep everyone posted on what we will find wrong with the 7bolt.
