Borrowed car CAS came loose.

Am I responsible for this? Should I pay for it?

I tuned a friend's car a little bit on the SAFC2 a week ago. The friend then went home and adjusted timing on the car's CAS. He then gave me his car to fix his exhaust manifold bolts. I drove the car home (running crappy, 650cc injectors, afc2 untuned for the most part, due to the timing adjustments). The next day, I started the car, it idled rough so I let it warm up and took it down the road. At about 65mph I was cruising and the car died on me. It just died. After some looking around, I went to make sure the CAS plug wire was still connected, and it moved freely, the CAS moved freely! It either came loose or he did not tighten it all the way or something.

Obviously I was driving the car when this happened, but am I to blame? Should I have to pay to fix it? This is a moral delima.. I know he set timing, he admits to it, but says he tightened them. The car now has 0 compression in #1, and 125 across 2-3-4.

He wants me to fix it.
I think it was his neglegence. Also the oil was so low it registered below the "low" mark on the dipstick.

Thanks.

When you borrowed the car the deal was "if you break if you fix it" if you would'nt have agreed to that then the car would'nt have left my place. The Cas coming loose would have retarded the timing and if the car was just cruising along like claimed there would'nt be any damage either.
