boost leak? weird problem

i have a 95tsi with a 1g turbo on it stock boost 10psi.....the thing is sometimes i floor it and it feels like it has no power but the boost rises to 10psi and rpms are rising but speed is gradually climbing as it does this it also studders like back and forth getting up to speed...but once it hits 3000 rpm its full power again it just happens under 3000rpm....also when i cruise at around 3000rpm it starts to studder a little bit kind of like a backfire but not really....i changed the sparkplugs like u guys said but nothing could it be a boost leak....what about a bad 2g bov? worked fine even though it used to flutter after the wistle sound but i cut the dumptube and now i cant hear it any more period

Any time my car starts to act different I know I'm usually looking for something leaking: Vacuum or Pressure. Make a boost leak tester and use it often.

Check all your vacuum hoses for possible leaks. Better yet, buy new vacuum hose and replace all of it. Your car is old enough that the original hose is shot. Don't waste your money on that cool colored silicone tubing. It's weak. Trust me, I know.
The 2G BOV leaks like a rusty bucket. I have a hunch that it is probably dumping boost. A boost leak test will confirm it, do this first. Get a better BOV. A 1G BOV is all you'll need for most applications. Fix the big boost leaks first and then the little ones will show up on the next leak test.
