So Im checking my car for boost leaks today, i notice theres alot of air leaking from the bottom where my exhaust is (exhaust is cut below the 02 housing). Weird part about it is i put my hand over the exhaust and feel air shooting out. Now when i did the boost leak check, I bypassed the turbo and and stuck the tester on the intake. So i know its going through the engine. Car run good at idle but when I drive and hit 0 on my vac and boost gauge it runs like crap and idles like crap for a good minute or 2. Is there anyone out there thats ever had this problem?

How do you bypass the turbo putting the tester on the intake pipe? How much pressure were you able to maintain during the pressure test?

There are three ways air can escape into the exhaust during a static pressure test.

1. Stuck open EGR valve.

2. Valve overlap, when intake and exhaust valves are both open at the same time.

3. Jumpped timing/bent valves.
