did a boost leak test b/c my car has been running kind of odd. it had a slightly delayed spool and lacked power in mid rpm's

heres my mods:

6 bolt swap (7.8:1)
balance shaft eliminator
Evo III ported oxy sensor housing/ exhaust manifold
SAFC
Logger (broke again)
550's
190 FP
Joe P MBC
big 16g w/1st gen J pipe

note: i have my stock bov on at the moment and boost turned all the way down. i have a boost gauge but it froze over winter..peice of shit. i cant really tell what boost im at either. i have a new gauge coming but am trying to fix my problems right now.

i found 2 leaks,(see pics) one at the BISS, and one at the J pipe where it meets the compressor. i have a 1g j pipe on the 16g and a hacked LICP but found no leaks there. Could this be the cause of my lack of power? is the 1g j pipe too restrictive or do i have other problems too? i uploaded a picture to try to describe how i had to make it work. the boost leaks did not seem to be that bad. my bov leaked but i supposed thats to be expected. ALSO: what is the importance of that metal tube like thing that goes between the turbo and oxy sensor housing? mine is sitting on my desk right now, not too sure what it does but we forgot to put it in.

thanks.

Any leaks you have are going to cause an issue. I sealed my 1g J-pipe up with RTV and haven't had any problems with leaks there.

As far as the metal pipe goes, I'm not sure what you're talking about. The ring gasket perhaps? If you don't have that installed, you're fine.

Well since your boost gauge isn't working, you couldn't tell how much you've pressurized the system. Install the gauge ASAP. Fix the ones you find and test again until you reach 20 psi, you most likely will find more on the way. As for the ring, I've no idea what it is or where it goes.

That looks like the seal ring that stock would be between the exhaust manifold and Turbo.
If you found it in the Turbo to O2 housing somebody messed up.

Most people port out the step in the manifold and turbo and discard the seal ring since there isn't anything to seal against. As long as you keep the turbo bolts tight and have a good gasket you won't have problems from the missing seal ring.

i set my compressor output to i think 25 PSI and just let it at that. i think that should have worked well, at least it seemed to.

steve- the gasket was between the turbo and manifold. i have a slightly ported evo 3 manifold and a non ported big 16g with a new OEM gasket for it. do you think i have a need to put that back in?

I think I'm one of the few people running a 7cm seal ring. I ported my EVO 3 exhaust collector step to be flush with the ring and had Forced Performance do the same with the B16G when they ported it.

So If you still have the steps in both then use it to avoid the additional turbulance of passing over the two steps.
If you don't have both then you couldn't use it if you wanted to and should port both to match

sounds good. thanks for the advice. i hope this fixes my fluctuation in power that in mid to upper range rpms. its hard to explain. i hope my logger works again soon.
