when doing the BLT I noticed alot of pressure building up under oil cap... alot of air coming from there. Never had this issue before with my boost leak tests... so can anyone tell me how to get crank to 30* ATDC? I did some searching but I still cant figure it out... where is this TDC notch?
Thanks,
Newb

TDC is when the dowel pins on the cam gears point straight up, 30* past that should be simple enough (just go 30* clockwise) I have a few things for you to check, they will either rule out or diagnose your problem. Follow them in order from easiest to hardest/most time consuming.

1. Check your PCV valve for proper working function. (not going to spoon-feed this one, do a quick search)

2. If the PCV valve checks out, then do a boost leak test from the TB elbow. If there's no air in the crankcase (valve cover area), then you have bad turbo seals, if there is air, then go on to step 3.

3. Do a compression test, if it comes back low in any cylinders, then add a cap worth's (oil bottle cap that is) of oil into the cylinder then do another compression test. Report back with results.

Replaced PCV valve.. still have same problem, although when I tested it... it seemed to leak just like the one I had in there... because when I tested the first one I covered the hole on valve cover where the valve is supposed to go and no pressure was building up. so maybe I need to just wait for check valve... Gonna do more boost leak tests though because I just checked whole system and it would only build up to 11 psi... although I have a cheeeeeeep air compressor from walmart that is pretty weak... so im going to break it up into two parts. anyway... either way gonna do compression test too because i havent done it since i bought the car 2 years ago... BTW is it cool to just put some sealent in biss screw? got a small leak there. I put a cork in it but i'm sure that wont hold it when I have the other boost leak fixed... it should be cool to run 15 PSI with stock internals right?
Thanks for help

during boost leak test from turbo to before throttle body elbow my greddy type s is spewing air out of small nipple above 10 psi it seems like... Is that normal? but when i put my finger over that it holds 20 psi and pretty much stays there... but no pressure in crankcase. i had it spliced into mbc coming from jpipe but people told me to just let it vent so thats how i have it set up now... On the other hand, when I tested from TB elbow..... pressure drops pretty fast and crankcase builds pressure... check valve needs to get here faster imo so i can move onto my overheating issue.

There needs to be a vacuum line from the nipple on the bov to the nipple on your intake manifold, otherwise the bov will blow open at very low pressures.

Also the fact that you're saying you get crankcase pressure when doing a BLT on the throttle body elbow and no CC (crankcase) pressure when doing one from the turbo makes absolutely no sense at all. There must be something else going on there man. Fix the bov line, block off the pcv valve line, then do another BLT and let us know what happens.

when i was pressure testing from turbo i had it blocked off before tb elbow... make more sense? i split it up in two parts. turbo to before tb elbow. then tested from tb elbow. there are two nipples on my greddy type s. the big one is going to intake mani.. small one is the one thats vented, which before I had spliced between jpipe and mbc... i will block off pcv valve tomorrow and redo from tb elbow and post results

thanks for the help

when i tested full system from turbo with pvc blocked there was no pressure in CC. When i tested again from throttle body with pvc blocked it held boost alot better then before... but its leaking somewhere else other then the biss screw and I can't find it...

Ok I was out of town for a week... back to it... I'm testing from TB elbow and I have a bad leak somewhere. Can't hear my greddy type s anymore. I have check valve before pcv valve now so thats not it. Its not building any pressure in CC now. Any ideas where else to check? How do I know if injectors o-rings are leaking? Biss screw is leaking a little bit but its something else. Thanks
