Boost Leak Results! (Need Help!)

Well, i did my boost leak test. Unfortunatly i had a couple leaks. I had a huge one pouring out the breather valve on the top of the valve cover. How do i fix this? All the other ones i took care of already.

the DSMs have a big problem with oil getting into the intake becuase of the breather hose. What most of us to is put either a little filter in the middle of the hose, but i think the majority put a little air filter breather on there, there like $5 total at your local automotive store, looks like a miniture air filter. Then if you go that route, you'll have to put a cover or tape around the connection to the intake.

one other thing too, if its the actual valve cover, you might want to get a new one, you can get a nice chrome one or powder coated for $100 or less.....

Thanks for the advice, but it doesnt really tell me why my boost pressure is shooting out the PCV valve.

Is the air coming out of the left outlet of the valve cover, or the pcv?

Air is coming out of the line that goes from the valve cover to the intake plumbing by the air box.

Okay, disconnect your pcv and plug off the hole. Retest for Boost leaks from the throttle body elbow and see if there are any changes.

Alright the pcv is the threaded nipple that is on the top side left corner of the valve cover. And the outlet is the on the far left side that returns to the intake plumbing.?


What will plugging the pcv hole do anyway? Its not leaking from there?

I'm getting really confused. Lets start over....

Is your PCV routed to your intake manifold?
If NO, how is your PCV routed?
What were the results of your boost leak test, how long did your system hold 20 psi?

When testing, try putting the tester on the lower intercooler pipe instead of the turbo inlet. Also test from the throttle body elbow.

You're ultimately trying to achieve a test of 20 psi that is held for a minimum of 30 seconds steady.

Sorry im getting confused on where the PCV valve is located. Possibly a picture or explination of where the PCV is loacted would be of much help.

Ok thats what i thought. So i have a little boost leaking out of threads at the PCV and alot leaking from the line that returns to the intake plumbing. Based on this you want me to remove the PCV, plug the PCV hole then redo the boost leak test?

ddavisaf wants you to remove the hose from the PCV valve that connects to the Intake Manifold Plenum fitting.
Plug the fitting on the Intake Manifold Plenum and then retest.
If you are blowing boost thru the PCV valve into your Valve Cover, your PCV is bad and should be replaced with an OEM PCV Valve.
Also, if you have a little leak around the threads of the PCV, don't just tighten it, you'll crack your Valve Cover. Simply put a little bit of teflon tape on the pcv valve and you should be good.
