Just completed (sort of) a boost leakdown test on my 2g

results:
from turbo outlet to TB inlet
-Piping seemed to hold fine
-BOV (1g) opened up around 5-10 psi.
-is that correct since it is not seeing the "boost" pressure in the top of the BOV?

TB inlet
-would hold 5 psi max and then slow leak down
-leaking from the idle set screw-not a huge leak (how do i fix this?)
-hissing noise in oil cap and dipstick tube (what does this mean?)
-Engine was not set to a specific timing, however the car was cranked in tiny bits a few times to make sure I wasn't at overlap.

any help would be awesome!

Thanks

Need a new biss o-ring EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts (thats the leak at the idle set screw)

The hissing in the oil cap is most likely your PCV valve leaking. I would either get the boomba 1 way check valve Boomba Racing, Inc. :: Check Valve

Or run a U.S. Plastics Check Valves | U.S. Plastic Corp.

You need to do the test with the intercooler pipe connected to the tb. The bov will not hold boost if there is no pressure going to the hose. It is kind of pointless to test the piping alone if the bov is leaking because you won't be able to isolate any leaks above 10 psi.

I have a megan intake that routes the PCV into the intake and them back into the head. So i don't believe I even have a PCV valve. If it is all blowing out of that then I would never make boost while driving.

Also, shouldn't the pressure stay out of the crankcase/valve cover?

I tested the piping that way because testing the whole setup it seemed like i was getting no pressure at all. I believe i established tonight that the TB forward is my problem not the intake piping.

PCV valve is screwed into the valve cover between the manifold and valve cover. I always put the one way check valve in that line. OEM PCV valves leak pretty often meaning they allow the boost to push past the valve which is supposed to keep the boost pressure out of the crankcase and allow it to breath out when under vacuum.

Update:

Went back out today and set the car to the appropriate timing this time. Still leaked into the crank case some how. went to replace the PCV valve and the thing cracked the valve cover surrounding the PCV valve!!!!! SOB!

Any good ways to repair that?

Also found that my injector seals are leaking and that the PCV is terrible and keeping boost out.

On the way so far:
O ring for the idle screw
injector seals
check valve

Still got air in the crank case (i think) when pressure testing even witht he PCV UNPLUGGED. Any ideas?

I will be back out to try again once all the stuff gets here and i get it installed.

ordered new injector seals, and a check valve already TB seems to be good. no leaks/bubbles with soapy spray yet...just waiting for my parts....

To all, before suggesting someone buy something, you should probably make sure it is the right size.

2g's at least have a 1/4" check valve needed not a 3/8". anyone need 3 3/8" check valves?
