boost leak in interecooler

I finally got around to making my own boost leak tester. I haven't had time lately. Anyways I put it on and started to pressurize it and immediately it started coming out near the stock sidemount intercooler. So I tightened the clamps leading to it and it still escaped as soon as I added any pressure. Whoever had this car before me had the intercooler "fixed". It looks like they put a big glob of cement on it. The car came with a big fmic that was never hooked up. So what I am wandering is should I try to fix/get another used stock intercooler or buy the pipes for and install the fmic? I am still running the stock turbo but the upper intake pipes have been upgraded to greedy hard pipes. I don't have the money to upgrade to an eve 3 16g which is what I was planning on doing when I installed the fmic.

The stock turbo outlet directs outboard towards the passenger side of the car, you could make lower pipes to work with it, but you would only end up with a laggy, low efficiency set up.

How bad is the boost leak? Does your car buck and cut out when you try to accelerate?

I recommend that you get another stock intercooler for very cheap to get you by while you save for a TD05 frame turbo and all the supporting mods to go with a proper front mounted intercooler set up.

yeah the boost leak is very bad. like my boost gauge will read boost but rather quickly goes down if i keep my rpms up. how much lag will a fmic setup cause? i have heard both not much and a lot.

Grab a stock smic ,and keep the turbo until later, no rush. Fix the boost leak with another smic.
