boost leak hotside

Can you have a boost leak where the hotside goes on? I swapped turbos and am now spooling way late. My 16g I had spooled at like 3200, my 14b w/7cm housing is spooling just under 4000. I changed nothing else, so I am kinda stumped.

Did you use a manifold to turbo gasket? Are you sure your manifold to head bolts are are tight..And also the manufold to turbo bolts are tight?

My next question is why you downgraded from a 16g for a 14b?

Turbo to mani is the only place I would consider a post engine boost leak.

All are bolted down to spec. The 16g blew, so I picked up a 14b and put on the 7cm housing to get some more top end power.

Is it possible that I didn't put on the exhaust housing on properly? It just kinda slided in a turned a little, then I put the V band on.

When you put the hot n cold together, there is a small male and female to ensure proper fitment. Make sure the band is tight, make sure the turbo to mani is tight and mani to head is tight. Also, please make sure you connected the wastegate to the flapper properly...

Boost leak would be on the compressor side of the turbo. If there's a leak before the turbine wheel it can affect the way in which the turbo spools since exhaust pressure is what drives it Check for exhaust leaks aroud the v band and where the turbine housing bolts to the the manifold. Also, check the compressor side for leaks, loose clams, couplers, or anything that will allow air to escape can cause this.
