Replaced them as I was getting a massive leak at the tps during a blt @ the TB pipe. So followed the guides on replacing the seals and everything seemed fine. The old seals in there were the stock ones with the metal ring and the rubber inside was pretty much gone. Popped them out and the new seals from machv went right in. I used this grease for lubricant http://www.amazon.com/CRC-SL3144-Moly-Graph-Pressure-Multi-Purpose/dp/B000CPCSNU

After getting everything put together and putting the TB on, I promptly did another blt and its still leaking nicely at the tps.

So i've read a few threads discovering 1 dude put a bead of RTV under the tps to act as a gasket. Before I do that is there anything I could have done wrong to cause this? Or something still leaking? Thanks guys

step 1 remove intercooler piping
step 2 buy hairspray
step 3 coat the inside couplers with hairspray along with the outside part of the piping
step 4 clamp back into place
the hair spray dries hard and gives a good seal good for up to 30 psi remember make sure u let it sit for atleast 24 hours to fully seal b4 driving :thumb:

Wtf is this? Did you even read his post?
OP...I'm guilty of this as well, but did you make sure you didn't put them in backwards?

Perhaps you scored the inside of the seal housing when removing the old one. This is a common mistake found throughout some forums I have searched on here with a similar problem on my 90'. I just got another 2g throttle body, blocked off the bottom, did a rebuild myself, (which i do for 50$), and it seals. In doing many jobs, I can say I beleive his RTV behind the tps, was an attempt at fixing the throttle body shaft seal.. But when you rebuilt the seals, it should have corrected the problem, because there are no other locations to leak in that area, unless maybe the leak is beneath the tps, and not behind it, try spraying soapy water on her and look for the little bubbles in blt (rotate the throttle manually and listen for leaks). Let me know what happens. I currently have a brand new tps, and im throwing a dtc0014 (tps circuit malfunction), and this throttle body was packed with rtv and the tps never had a problem before this, I'm just looking for any similarities. Hopefully my advice helped.

Ahh forgot about this thread. Found out after further testing it was actually the TB gasket leaking not the tps. Had to put my finger way up in there to feel it was actually the gasket since there damn near in the same spot. Soapy water wouldn't reveal anything.
Thanks for the suggestions tho fellas.

I have a big sheet of 1 foot wide graphite gasket paper, and every time I pull my throttle body I tear a gasket, and in 15 minutes I make a brand new one with a razor blade and a 6"/6" peice of gasket paper. I am sure to coat both sides with Copper Sealant spray paint, and it has NEVER LEAKED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Save money, work smart!
