OK my step-dad and I installed my boost gauge about a week or so ago and we did a MBC at the same time.

My step-father really didn't want to tap into the vacuum hose on the intake because I don't know why. We used the original t-fitting that was on the car and tapped into the line going from the turbo outlet to the MBC.

I think this may have messed up the vacuum readings but I think the boost readings are fine.
 
It will work, but just hook it up like coldandafraid said and it will work properly. Make sure that you tap into the line going from the solenoid to the intake manifold.
