Boost Creep and ex manifolds...

I get boost creep like a mo fo now. Mods are in my profile but for exhaust, I have a E316G ported turbo, 2.5" tubular O2(recirc), 2.5"ID down pipe, test pipe, and RSR cat back which is 2.75" I think. The only thing I don't have is a ported or upgraded manifold. I woudn't think that the manifold would have any effect on boost creep but I thought I'd ask. I'm getting the SBR manifold regardless but will it help/hurt creep?
 
yeah, adding more flow will either keep your creep about the same or make it worse. If you're running an internal wastegate, you need a bigger flapper and a good porting of your o2 housing wastegate area. Remember, your creeping because your pushing a lot of boost, and your wastegate isnt big enough to let out all the boost your not using.........the exhaust manifold wont hurt at all performance wise, but it wont help your boost creep problem, get the bigger flapper first........... or go external wastegate($$$)

I have a fully ported evo3 16G and aftermarket tubular O2 that i ported even more. That's why I'm asking stupid questions like this.

I guess external WG is the only way for me to fix this. I guess I'll just live with it .
 
If you have boost creep already, I don't think upgrading your mani would increase the problem terribly, but you still have the boost creep issue, i'd spend my time/money fixing that first!

I'd try upgrading to a bigger WG flapper before spending money on a external setup. I had bad boost creep once I got my 3" Exhaust, then ported the o2 and opened the WG hole, and installed a new flapper. Easy enough to do yourself if you are into DIY stuff ( and who with a DSM isnt?? :p )

I DIDNT SAY EXTERNAL WAS THE ONLY WAY TO GO, JUST GET A BIGGER WASTEGATE FLAPPER FROM TRE(TEAM RIP) FOR LIKE 40BUCKS, AND REPLACE YOUR OLD SMALL ONE. IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT A FLAPPER IS, THEN YOU'RE IN TROUBLE. DONT LIVE WITH IT FOR TOO LONG, NOT BEING ABLE TO GO WOT FOR TOO LONG WILL DRIVE YOU INSANE.......................

I know what flapper is :rolleyes: christ, look at my mod list. If I don't know what a wg flapper is by now somebody shoot me.

I know you didn't say the WG was the only way to go. I may try the larger flapper mod but I don't feel like taking off my turbo anytime soon. I'll probably do it when I change manifolds. Thanks for the input.
 
Can't you just take the exhaust housing off seperately? Unbolt the o2 housing from the downpipe, unbolt the exhaust housing from the manifold, and take off the bandclamp, leave the rest of the turbo in car.
