boost and stall problem

Alright now I recently bought this 97 talon tsi awd it appears to be basically stock other than 255 walboro fuel pump and hard intake. now it has a mechnical boost gauge and as i drive it and put the gas to the floor it will boost all the way up to 25 psi about but it sure dosent feel like its going no where and then when i push the clutch to shift it will drop rpms and then basically die. also if i take it for a spin down the road and then come back and let it try and idle it dosent wanna idle good and the low oil light is flickering. now yesterday i was trying to mess with the wastegaste and hook the tube from the intake to the wastegate actuator and then tried to see if it changed anything and I put it to the floor then it backfired and starting smoking white real bad and starting smoking white in the engine bay also now i drove it back and hook everything up the way it was before that happended and its not smoking white anymore. now ive had this car for a month now and havent been able to drive it becuz i cant figure out wats wrong with it.

does it have a boost controller on it? if your hitting 25psi on a mostly stock setup your probably seeing so much knock that the timing is retarding and your not getting much power. what kind of gas are you using?

yes it has a manual boost controller on it and no matter whether you screw it all the way down or all the way out its still boosting at the same psi everytime and I put 93 octane in the car.
