Yes, I know blue smoke means oil, but here is my situation.

I just had my motor rebuilt. New pistons, new rods, new head, everything machined. The whole motor was redone. The turbo has around 20k miles (t28 ported).

After getting it back i installed, new injectors (650), fuel pump (255walbro), fpr (aeromotive), full intercooler kit, ported throttle body with intake manifold to match and wideband. After all this I got the car tuned for 16psi. The wideband is reading 10.9 when wot.
The motor has about 600-700 miles and 2 oil changes since the rebuild.

When I got on it today my buddy behind me said he saw some blueish white smoke. I have no idea what it could be since the whole motor was rebuilt. What could be causing this problem?

I'm not familiar with DSM turbos, but a good guess is oil from the turbo. :)... Starion turbos are coolant/oil, not sure of the setup on DSMS

Your valve guides could be leaking oil past the valves. Or a cracked piston ring from the rebuild. There are alot of ways to get oil into the engine and out the exhaust pipe. Is there a puff of blue smoke on start up? That would point towards the valve guides. Pressure test the cylinders and check the rings. Good luck and let us know what you find out!!

There is no shaft play at all, I checked it yesterday. No I have not done a conpression test, Im just going on the assumption that the shop rebuilt my motor properly. The intercooler kit is brand new and has about 1 week of use. I can take off a coupling and check for any oil in the piping.

Does anyone think this could just be some oil burning off still from when the motor was apart and rebuilt?

No smoke at all on start up. My friend said it happened when I took off in first. The head was a fresh rebuild, stainless steel vavles, 3g lifters, crower valve springs and retainers and new valve guides.

No
1) Not if it was built by a half legit shop
2) You said a week passed by, it would have already burned up

Do a compression test no matter who rebuilt the engine.

It's possible that you didn't break in the engine properly and the cylinder walls are glazed now. Or that the cylinders weren't honed properly, or that the pistons are too small for the cylinders (engine builder bored for 30 over, but you have 20 over pistons), or even though it's highly unlikely, that you washed out the rings from running really rich.

If the compression test doesn't show even compression across the board...or if the numbers are low, do a wet test. If the compression numbers come back up, it's most likely rings. If you've got low compresion, I'd still do a leakdown test too just to be as positive as possible, but that's just me.

Once you rule out compression, then we can give you more advice.
