BLT weird noise?

Alright I've searched but this is just weird! As soon as the pressure gets to about 8psi there is a bubbling sound coming from what seems like the block.
You could compare it to a pot of boiling water with the lid on it. Is that normal?

is it smoking too? Sounds like boost forcing water through a failing gasket and boiling off. But I cant see or hear your car so I'm not sure. But if its not smoking Id throw that out.

This could be two things. It can be the air being pushed past the rings into the block or a blown headgasket allowing air into the coolant galleys. A leak down test will pinpoint what the problem is.

Do a leakdown/compression test and report the results. Do not drive the car, if air is getting in the cylinders it could cause a lot more damage.

My compression was 135-140-145-145 i am planning on doing a leakdown just have to purchase the kit...and yes there is a little smoke after the motor gets warmed up.

I already had an idea the hg was gone but the compression was pretty even

That is relatively even but, that still doesn't clear you of HG issues. My old motor would over heat and do many other HG signs but, had fine compression.

Where are you testing at; turbo inlet or TB?

I'm not having any overheating issues. If that provides some further information. Nobody in Lubbock stocks a leakdown tester so I had to order one. Should be here next week.

And I was testing from the turbo.

its not a blown HG, and theres no air being pushed past the rings would cause a bubbling noise

what do you mean if "air is getting into the cylinders" that doesnt make any sense




Theres nothing wrong with your car. Its just air getting past the compressor side seal of your turbo and your forcing air into the oil pan through the oil return line, its pretty common.

it doesnt mean your turbo is bad or anything, the turbo normally doesnt see pressure at that seal

Make sure the valves are all closed.
Take off the rad cap and watch for bubbling.

If you see bubbles, most likely your head is cracked.

It very well could just be air pushing past the turbo seals and getting into the oil via the drain. Try testing from the TB and see if it still does it.

Sorry works been tying me up last week!! But I did the test from the tb and no noise! So I guess it was from the return line
my leak down tester gets here tomorrow so I might as well do that since I'll have it!
