Blown turbo seal???

1990 Eclipse GST FWD 5spd man. (14b turbo)
K&N filter - hacked air-can - boost controller (15 psi) - lightweight flywheel - ACT 2100 pressure plate & street disc clutch.

I was driving home tonight when in second gear at full boost my motor just went "pop". Everything lurched forward and slowed WAY down. I drove on for a few minutes and tried to boost again and it refused to boost, then i noticed that smoke was pouring out of my exhaust and interior vents, I tried to make it home (3-4 miles) but was pulled over and had to be towed. Anyways I was wondering what happened? I believe that I blew a turbo seal and oil got into the intake causing the smoke, but why would it not boost at all? If the seal is blown would my best bet be to replace the turbo alltogether? Thanks for any help.
 
Definately sounds like a turbo or a headgasket. My car did the same thing when my first 14b blew. But when mine popped and blew, the exhaust turbine blew completely apart and out my exhaust.

Have you done the basics yet? Like test for shaft play, look for oil/coolant mixture, check compression? Get those done and you'll probably have a pretty good idea of what it is.
 
thanks for the reply, i checked the turbo for shaft play and there wasn't any and the turbine wheel spun freely, i also checked and the oil was fine, no coolant. The only thing i haven't done is a compression test.
 
Well, to be completely honest, when mine blew there was absolutely no shaft play. So if you do your compression test and you have decent compression on all cylinders, then go ahead and pull your manifold off and look down in the turbo and see if you can see your turbine wheel. If you can't, then you're in the same boat I was in, and you're in need of a new turbo.
 
Well, I just got done pulling out the line between the turbo and the intercooler and oiled poured out of it so I think I found my problem LOL.
