Blown Headgasket...Any ideas

Alright I gotta 96 Eagle Talon TSi with a 1G Engine Swap, currently has a 4 Layer Mitsubishi Headgasket, Im having a problem keeping the coolant temp down. On the Highway i run around 190 or so and as soon as i hit traffic I shoot up to 210 or so. Im running one slimline fan but got another fan to put on there, gonna wire it up to the ac power. Also when i start the car with the radiator cap off the coolant shoots out before it even gets warm. I think the headgaskets blown but before i pull it all apart wanna get some second opinions.
 
My 1G got up to 250 degrees when running just one slim fan. Get another fan on the car and then let us know.

Just because you overheat, it doesn't mean your head gasket is blown. I have driven on a really bad head gasket many times in my 2G and had no overheating problems.

Do a couple WOT pulls (when it's NOT overheating), and if you haven't pushed out any coolant, your head gasket is probably just fine.
 
So i think i fixed my problem, my fan was wired backwards, i dont know why i didnt check this before but it was pulling when it should have been pushing. Swapped it around and started it up let it run for a good 15 minuted stayed around 150 or so. Im gonna run a compression test tomorrow and make sure my headgasket isnt blown. Is there a reason my coolant is still shootin out my rad cap when i start it. Also could not having the coolant overflow on there be the problem or not? Also is the water pump right there pushing it up? Thanks for the help.
 
Get a combustion leak tester and see if you have combustion gas in your cooling system that is the best way to test for a bad headgasket.
 
i do believe not having an over flow could cause that problem. i know my over flow level would change all the time. i assume you blocked off the line that goes to the over flow. and how much does it spit out? all of it or just enough to fill to the full line on your over flow? < stupid question i know.
 
My car had a problem with overheating. It kept loosing all the coolant. Turned out to be a small crack in one of the heater core hoses. It would leak under pressure but not at idle. I replaced the hose and it solved my problem.

I have a leak some where. I had to drive 200 miles to find out. I haven't looked under the car yet, curious if any one know what leaks by the passenger firewall? heater core??? hoses going to the block?

Heater core hoses go to the passenger side firewall. If you can't find anything there, the leak may be somewhere on the thermostat housing.
 
it depends on how you ran the test, was the engine warm and did you hold open the TB? also did you remove all 4 spark plugs at once? if you did not do all of the above your readings will be low.

most of the time if you have a blown HG, one or 2 of the readings will be way low

like #1 140 #2 60 #3 65 #4 140 when you get a reading like this it shows how the compression is swapping between cyl #2 and #3
