So i blew my head gasket on Friday night which was only a month old. I have been told that it was because i didn't pull the valve cover off after 250 miles but not sure how true that is. Then another friend told me that that's not necessary. Have also been told that it was because I was running to much boost. I just want to get to the bottom of this so i don't have to pull my head for a 3rd time a month from now.

I am running a big 16g turbo and was running about 18 lbs of boost. Was told by a buddy that I would be perfectly fine running that but then was told by another buddy that it was too much boost for stock head studs. I'm confused on what is actually the case but I am posting a pic of the head gasket itself but I'm not sure if it will really help much. The pics are of both sides of the head gasket.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and any info will be helpful.

to answer your questions no i dont have a stock fuel pump. i have a walbro 255. and on the 4g63 you dont need a swivel to get to the head bolts.

Anyway I got my head back from the machine shop today and I will be starting to put it back together today. and will make sure its torqued down to 90 ft/lbs

Post up some pics of your head. I like to see the surface finish other shops lay down.

One buddy said this, but another buddy said that :p god I love these kind of posts. Obviously your 'other buddy' wasn't right when saying it would hold up. Use your common sense and upgrade the parts before pushing that much boost on a 16g

Sorry guys just saw your replies. I took it to Moore Machine Shop on 12th street in Moore, ok. had them rebuild the head and resurface it. put it all back together this week and got it going as well as put on 3"exhaust. I gotta say i think its running way better than before. I was running just stock exhaust before with an after market muffler so i think now that it can breath it will be a noticeable difference.

Also decided to go with ARP head studs as well
