i noticed i have alot of pressure comming out of the oil cap..it also spits out oil from the breather.. i replaved the pcv valve and nothing changed. it also has alot of oil comming out somewere and sitting on the valve cover and spraying..i replaced the cap as well and nothing changed..any help would be greatly appriciated!! i am completly stock

I had a catch can built for me and it only cost me $55. it has a filter on top, drain on the bottom along with the -8AN fittings welded on. I will have to see if I can find the guys information again and see if I can get you in touch with him.

Yeah...you get what you pay for. You got an empty can that will not keep crankcase pressure below atmospheric pressure, along with the bonus benefit of getting a nice oil mist all over your engine bay once the filter saturates.

And all for only $55. What a deal! :)

Actually it is a fully baffled catch can and is very nice quality. You can see everything when you look down the filter hole and inside the fittings. So yeah maybe I just got a very good deal :thumb::sneaky:

It may be baffled but that does not change the fact that it is open to the Atmosphere. :ohdamn:

You state you are getting a catch can
to help pull the pressure out of the crankcase
but what is pulling on it???? If the can is open to the air via a filter, then nothing is pulling on the can and the crankcase pressure must be above atmospheric pressure before it even starts to exit through your valve cover ports. :thumb:

Now now we dont have to whip em out to see whos is bigger. But Calan I will be ordering your catch can in the near future.

After all these years you would of thought someone would mass produce a better valve cover considering this has been a problem plaguing our cars since the jump.

This ^^ is the key. Seems that most people don't understand the concept for some reason.

That's why people run the big -10an lines to the intake from a baffled catch can, to PULL that much more pressure out of the crankcase than a little 6mm vac hose can, let alone trying to "PUSH" it out of a little breather filter.

Just read some of Calan's posts, you will learn a lot. Let alone, he builds the nicest catch can setups I've seen....

Ill look into a catch can... i found 3 small cracks, 2 were on the outside near the right corner, and one was on the inside. I fill them with jb weld and painted to cover... i then took her for a quick drive and when i got back home i saw it still leaks!! Anyway ill figure ill get a new vc.. my problem now is im running lean and blowing up spark plugs!! What should i do!!??

Yes i did.. i took a closer look at it and now it seems its coming out of the oil cap that i just replaced... could my leaky exhaust manifold be causing my lean condition? Or mabey a clogged cat? Seems like i have excessive heat in the bay... i wish someone around my area could take a look at it

Try leak down test and compression test see how the compression is and also oil pressure. and also take your valve cover and check it for c racks or chips.
Mine leaked and sprayed.

ok...I am/not in the same category as you
1st you have to much crankcase pressure. regardless of what you hear that is not a good thing. A catch can would help but not fix the problem. Find out what is causing the crank case build up ....bad rings, crack block, bad piston, car to lean or rich, bad turbo .

2nd as far as oil cap goes I have had the same problem and keep in mind that the cap is leaking for two reason only. either cap is bad or the crank case pressure is pushing so bad that the oil cap seals can't hold it. Yeah you can put two seals on it or add some gasket sealer on it to stop it from leaking but think about it if the pressure can't escape through the oil cap then is going to force it's way from somewhere else.

3rd adding a pcv valve won't fix this and that oil breather is just for looks/rice.
