Blinker Arrow Stays Lit

My left blinker ARROW, the green one, comes on when I turn my lights on.. It blinks when I use the blinker but it stays lit and it's bright and annoying at night! Any ideas on how to get it back to normal?

Check the turn signal bulbs for damage or a bad filament, could be a bad flasher, bad ground or fuse, wiring. I would think bulb or flasher.

A broken filament in the bulb will cause that, otherwise multi-funtion switch

Okay thanks for the replies. I had a feeling it was part of the rusty housing and fast blinker speed I have a new housing sitting in the back of my car but I haven't had time to take off the dang bumper to get the housing out! So annoying!

So I got the new housing and headlights in. The blinker still blinks fast, and arrow lights up whenever I turn my lights on. What should I check? I don't know what the multi-function switch or flasher are.

At least I got the nasty housing out! Looks way better.

"Flasher" is a unit that makes your lights blink. Usually looks kinda like a round canister with two blades (connectors) on the bottom. Or sometimes they look more like relays, a small black box with two or three blades (connectors) on the bottom. Or if you are a DSMer, look for a large black box with multi-pin connector. Here are examples of flashers (DSM one is on the right):

"Multi-function switch" in this case means the handle (and the switches inside it) next to the steering wheel that turns on the turn signals and whatnot.

If it blinks fast, usually means a bulb is out, or there is a bad connection somewhere. Check both left and right turn signals, as well as the hazard lights (AKA four-way flashers). If everything is ok and every bulb lights up the flasher module would have to be replaced.

I'll double check all my bulbs!

Bulbs look good... Is there a relay for the blinkers that could be bad that I could check before taking my dash apart to get to the flasher unit?

Don't think there is a relay.
Are any of your bulbs LED? LED lights use less current and will cause flasher module to "think" a bulb is not working and make turn signals flash faster.

Nope, just standard bulbs. I triple checked my bulbs again and even though my left blinker *works* I just noticed it's a littler dimmer than the right side. Going to go get a new bulb real quick and am banking on it fixing the problem!

Alright, so I got the new bulb and it fixed the arrow lighting up along with my lights. Yay! However, it still blinks fast which is the pits because I don't want to shell out for a new flasher and its annoyingly fast!

Sounds like your flasher is bad as everyone has said above. Now days most people dont even use turn signals

Yea no kidding! People seem to use the blinkers AS they turn instead of using it to let people know they're trying to switch lanes. My father always does this. Anyway, it might help to note that when I turn on my hazard lights all lights blink at a normal pace..

Rewire the DSM flasher so you can use plain easy-to-get module instead. How? Good question, will dig up the module tomorrow and try to figure it out. Unless someone have done it before and is willing to help.

Was not able to find my flasher, but did find this flasher mod that allows you to control how fast/slow the lights are blinking.

Neat thanks for the link! I'm not sure if I'll do that mod or not. I'm beginning to get used to the fast blinker anyway haha

The hazards and turn signals have separate flashers. So I still say its a bad flasher, and a new flasher is like $10-20.
