Blew a heater hose

I kind of figure its best to replace this thing in pairs so I should probably replace both hoses eventually, so I plan to order this

however this car is my daily driver so do you all recommend any specific hose from autozone or Napa I could possibly pick up?

Its the heater hose thats closest to the driver side on the firewall and connects to the back of the thermostat housing.
 
I feel for you. That hose has got to be the most difficult thing on the car to replace. Might as well do both of them while you're in there. In my experience a water hose is a water hose. The only difference is OEM has the correct bends to make fitment easier.

Being in AZ, I would be tempted to just eliminate the heater rather than go thru the hassle. How often do you have to use it. Only draw back is not being able to regulate the AC.

I use it during the winter sometimes. Like I needed to use it last winter. But what I did is put a bypass system in it. So when it gets time to use it I turn the lever and their we go. Doing this takes the wear n tear out of the heater core.
 
So you are ordering the OEM ones but looking for one to use until they arrive? If so just go get one from any parts store or even a junkyard. It will last a week until you get the ones you want. I had a heater hose blow out about 4 years ago and I replaced it with one from Auto Zone and it fit just fine.
 
^^Can you give more details about the bypass system you installed?

I found out where the water goes into my heater core, then I took like a switch kind of thing where you can block off the water going in.
I learned about the set up by my dad putting this inside his 77 custom Chevy pick-up. He switches it off in the summer time. When it becomes winter he turns it so the flow can go threw.
 
Very interesting. I'm guessing they make kits that are specifically for this purpose? This is new to me but doesn't sound like a bad idea.
 
Some cars (such as a 77 Chevy pickup) use a blockoff valve stock, but that's just to keep hot water out of the heater core when you don't want heat. I don't see how it's saving the heater core in any way.

In fact I think you would be better off to let the coolant circulate normally. The flow will help prevent sediment buildup, and allow the anti corosion additives in the coolant to circulate through the heater core.

If I were you I would just replace the heater hoses and forget about it.

Oh no. I only go thru heater hoses about every 20 years. You probbly go thru clutches once a year.

What makes my hoses so difficult is the cruise control. Hoses are right under it, finally pulled the intake to be able to get the old ones off.
 
Yeah I do go through clutches anually. It's really starting to annoy me. I did twenty 1/4 mile passes in one day a couple weeks ago, and about two days later noticed I couldn't spin all four anymore.

Fedex should be here with my new disk any minute.


Ps. Looking at my 1g AWD Talon, I can see how they would be incredibly difficult (for what they are).
