Got the oil pump I have been waiting for. Next is deciding on a turbo so I can start fabricating the front end. Currently debating between a g45 and 115 xona. I believe xona came out with some compressor maps that I will have to look into.

Got the dash mocked up, need to order some fasteners.

Thinking the fuel tech will still be column mount for easy visibility.

Got a single fender on. Roll cage and engine compartment will be color matched

Got a 15x10 rim for cheap. Wanted to see how it would fit. Rim it’s self clears everything, even with the wider fender the rim pokes out ~1”. The guy I got the rim from has a full set with M&H 12.0/26.0r15. Tire would hangout another inch on each side. So about 2inch of poke out, not sure about that. It’s kinda hard to tell with no rubber. The rears I know I will have to flare.

Got the shifter from fat boy racing, now I can mount the staging brake. Still have to figure out the fuel shutoff from the cabin.

Tube front end is coming along well. Waiting on the boosted fab north/south bar to finalize. It is setup to be bolt on.

I was able to attend the 1/8 mile event at grove city, my local track. The same guy that won it last year swept it again this year in the small tire. This motivation sparked more research into what it will take to be competitive with this car. I have decided that this will need to be methanol. The direction I am leaning is replacing the TR1245R intercooler with an air to water cooler as the turbos I have been looking at would exceeded the limits of the TR1245R. Although it is not necessary with methanol I would like to maintain consistent temps. I see this best achieved by going A2W. Looking at the CSF cores.

Any recommendations on some good literature regarding engine building or tuning is welcome.

Working on getting front bumper mounted.

Bumper is now mounted with two latches on each side. Gotta figure out turbo placement.

Rough turbo placement. Trying to get compressor inlet half on headlight half on front bumper. Any lower the talon 2gb bumper fog holes come into play. From these pictures below it may need to go up ~1". Not going to buy new bumper, may just make some panels to cover the fog holes. Also wont be using the treadstone intercooler. Trying to sell it to buy one more suitable for this turbo.

Taking my time as I have never done this before, some of the things I am paying attention to.

-Turbo angle
-Turbo drain to oil pan (height of turbo)
-Exhaust to pre existing 4" front bumper cutout
-Turbo setback (compressor outlet needs to be somewhat lined up with intercooler, dictates how much turbo going to stick out of bumper)

Once I have placement down , ill tac up cyl. 1 and should be straight forward from there. Will more then likely brace the turbo. Not exactly sure how yet, everything in front is solid mount. Easiest place to brace would be the front hoop.

Been busy helping a buddy with an aluminum boat. All manifold parts are all here, I switched to a oval port flange.

I may need to move the turbo away from the fire wall. Where it sits in picture the downpipe is going to have a very hard 90.

If I pull it away from firewall I will have to have the turbo stick out the front bumper. Not sure what I want to do yet.

Runner 2 going to try to oval a long radius 90 to go under runners 3&4.

Cylinder 3 runners fitment came out better than 4.

Looking to buy a purge block.

Purge block came in. I have already contemplated a couple times re-starting and moving the turbo to a completely different spot. Just from the design aspect.

Currently longest runner is 19 inches and shortest runner is 16 inches. How I think about the design is the exhaust pressure, pressure wave is traveling at the speed of sound which in 1000 deg F exhaust air is around 1873 ft/s so 3 inches of difference would mean that the exhaust pulse gets there 0.1 milliseconds before (if shorter) or after (if longer).

For the bends I would look at the frictional or head loss added by a bend, this can be hard to find. I know bends have a greater impact then 3 extra inches of straight pipe. My runners 1 and 2 will have same quantities of bends, Runners 3 and 4 will have more bends. Does this matter on a Twin Scroll system?

When I do this again, I am going to do a different front hoop design and center the turbo in the front. Intercooler would be horizontally mounted. I think that configuration would lead to a badass manifold.
