Black Box in Passenger Wheel Well

Hey this is a really dumb question, but does anyone know what the little black box in under the passenger side fender is for? It has four black wires coming from it? I was just wondering if it was important, and what it is for. Thanks.

Those are ground wires. I'm not sure why a "box" was used though.

to elaborate on this my box broke(all the wires corroded and it just fell apart), can I just solder them together and reground them?
