ok im fixing to order my BigT28 tomarrow will the SSAUTOCHROME style FMIC kit bolt right up with the t28 if not what will i have to have? and what is max boost i can run on that setup untill i get injectors and a fuel pump?

dude you are going to have so much lag it is going to be ridiculous. Those intercoolers are known for terrible flow characteristics and with a small turbo like the T-28 you will see poor spool up.

I would recommend something with a tube and fin core or a small bar and plate intercooler.

Not meaning to bash the previous post, but i havent heard a single bad thing about the SSAutochrome FMIC kits. I know a few dsmer's in my area that went that route, and and VERY happy with the SSAutochrome kit. Not so sure about the turbo though, ebay turbo's have been known to crap out fast.

Actually I know someone running the core right now making 320whp with an evo16. Full spool by 3200 RPM and thats with 2.5" exhaust. Not to mention im sure he has boost leaks. I also have the SSauto FMIC and it seems like a great kit. Just have not installed it yet.

i got it to and i love it. i think i blew my 16g and for the rest of the year before i store it i think im goiung to get a 14b ill let you know how the lag is

i'm just sharing info i have seen from logs and it isn't pretty. I wouldn't even say it's that the SSA intercoolers suck per say (they aren't great) it's more the size and bar and plate design that isn't all that great with smaller turbos. An extruded tube core or smaller bar and plate would work better.

What? I have a ported AGP big T28 rated 550 cfm, same as big 16G. I have the fmic he is talking about and have NO difference in turbo lag. I still spool at 3000 like before. I had a 1 psi pressure drop after install compared to stock smic.

To OP, the SS fmic is proven...just look at the 50 page thread. A lot of people just try to scare you off them because A) they can't compete or B) they're just pissed they paid $1000 for a "brand name".

Even in Florida I can do a few pulls, feel the hot side and its hot...feel the cold side and its cold metal, same as ambient. It's THE best buy for fmic out there. It's short route, so go big for future upgrades.

ok i know the SSA FMIC is proven so i dont car what that guy says, and im buying the turbo form Forced Performance its the Big T28 and im gonna have it ported also. But back to what i was really wanting to know how much boost can i pull on stock fuel system till i can upgread, and i assume the FMIC will bolt right up to the T28 without anything else needed?

Heh, no. It won't bolt right up. You notice that the stock T-25 and the T28 have an elbow pointing to passenger side right?

The SSAC kit is for downward firing turbo, or at least towards driver side.

What you'll need to do is either get a sharp U bend to route back to driver side or get the elbow cut off and rewelded.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet LOL

Check this thread to see how I routed the IC piping off the T28. If I was you, I would not cut the turbo because if you get in an accident and crush the fmic, then need to put the smic back on you won't be able to easily swap it back in. You will lose 1 inch of ground clearance from before because the crossmember actually angles down an inch behind where you route the pipe, so it's not at problematic as it appears. You can go over the crossmember but it's a serious pain in the ass and you'll probably need to change your radiator fan to slimline to make room.

Make sure you get a 2.5" to 2" reducer coupler for pipe to turbo outlet. You'll also need an extra 2.5" coupler and extra 2.5" t-bolt clamps because the kit will short you some.

And hell no the kit doesn't bolt up...not even to downfiring turbos. You'll need some cutting and welding no matter what to get things to fit just right.
