so i have a 98 gs-t, with nkg plugs and wires, all new hoses/belts/pumps, ebay 3" SS down pipe and exhaust, 1g BOV, MBC , DIY intake pipe, vibrant filter and adapter and everything else is stock. as far as engine goes...

i was wondering about what turbo would be my best route, as i want to get up above 300 whp with minimal money spent.

i originally was looking at getting either a big 16g or the evo 3, but then i came upon the 18g, and i was like hmmm... i dunno what would be better.

then i was looking at FP.com and saw their big t28 and it seemed an even better choice.(direct bolt on and whatnot...)

so what i was wondering is with what i have now, which would be the "easiest" to use to obtain my goal of 300+whp?
and in order to get to the 300+ area would i need to get new injectors/fuel pump, and or anything else?

I was just wondering because the last time I converted a Frank 5 20G (60trim compressor, TD06H turbine) back to a internal gate for a customer I used an actuator from a T25 because I had a surplus. It fit perfectly, but it wouldn't boost past 17psi until I shortened the actuator rod.

You could probably tell if your T28 has an upgraded actuator or not by looking at the arm. I believe all of the stronger actuators sold for T2-series turbos are adjustable:

Mine didn't have a turnbuckle...I'll see if any of the FPB28 pictures I took show the arm and add it...
EDIT: Nope:

I have an FP Big-28 and I love it. Installation is completely bolt-in.. no install kit needed, no tweaking of coolant lines, no j-pipe needed etc. Its definitely an upgrade from the T-25 and 300whp is attainable with just a few supporting mods (550cc injectors, 190lph fuel pump, AFC, logger, and 17psi WGA). On the downside, it is expensive to buy new. I bought mine directly from FP and it cost me $860 with the porting option.

You said you're looking for over 300whp for as cheap as possible. Truth is, that is probably with a 16g. They can be had for $300 used and as mentioned you can work on getting it installed for as cheap as $100. Check out RRE's hacker/tweaker kit for $195. From there, you're just fuel mods and a tuning device away from over 300whp.

Digression: Have you ever tried adding a nipple to the T25 (T28?) WGA vent hole to make it a dual-port WGA? Not sure what I'd do with it, but the rusty cogs in my head are creaking to life...

EDIT: Nope:

Mine came with just the regular (non-adjustable) 11-psi wastegate actuator as well. (see below)

Thats the standard wastegate actuator on all FP Big-28's. They'll give you the 17-psi WGA, but you have to ask for it.. and give them another $100. ;)

I never converted it to a nipple and hooked it up to anything. I believe there's a hole on the T25 actuator where the nipple would be placed, though.
