Hi, My stock t25 went out about a week ago and i am looking for a mild upgrade. I was originaly going to buy the Fp big t28 because i read through alot of threads saying that it was a good turbo. I was planing on buying it from extrempsi but just yesterday they removed it from theire online store. All i see is the garret big t28. How good is the Garret big t28? I couldn't find alot of threads on it. Also, what else do i need to buy for the new turbo besides the manifold gasket & o2 gasket and the oil feed line (its the oil filter location one right, not the head one right?). I do have evo injectors and 190 walbro pump on the way with the new turbo. Any help would be grealty appreciated, Thanks

hey by the way I just wanted to say that Generation X was a standup guy. I bought the turbo off him online after being ripped off by some other guy in New York. Generation x was didn't bullshit around and sent the turbo out exactly when he said he was going to and I received exactly what he had advertised. I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from him in the future. Like i said a standup guy.
Hey bro I appreciate the props, same to ya!!:thumb: I'm glad you still like the turbo as well. It's an awesome turbo for the street IMHO. :)

yesterday after I read this post I just had to go take the Talon for a spin! I don't drive it very often, just been way too busy. I worked like 82 hours last week but I managed to take 'er for a spin yesterday andin the rain doing a wee bit of drifting!

does Garret still make that turbo? I always wanted to look at one of those. It was supposed to be setup like a Bit28 but used 16g turbines instead. It wa supposed to be the hot ticket but I haven't seen anything of it in a long times three or four years at least.
Yea I'm curious about that too. I was lookin into it like 2 1/2 yrs ago before I got the FP28. Someone prob sells it somewhere.

I'd go with a large sidemount for stealth and simplicity. If you're not worried about being hassled, have large power goals, or just want a FMIC, go for it. It's really a matter of preference.

Just installed my Fp big t28 3 weeks ago and having the time of my life... just debating now what type of intercooler to go with... fmic or upgraded smic?

yeah, I saw your mod list and noticed you're running the 17psi wastegate even though you're still on the stock fuel system. Are you seeing any knock? I was debating whether or not to get the 17psi WGA but I decided against it... well at leat until I can afford to upgrade my fuel system. All I've got is a rewired stock pump now.

I tried running the 17 psi actuator but i had too much knock and i was hitting fuel cut (not to mention heat soaking the sh!t out of my stock smic). I had my MBC set to the lowest setting and the lowest boost i was hitting was around 18-19 psi wich is way to much for my stock fuel system. I installed the stock actuator and am running a safe 15 psi now. I'd recomend not getting the 17 psi actuator untill u have ALL the supporting mods to run 17-20 psi. Other than that, im really pleased with the Fp big T-28.:dsm:

Ok, actually thats good to hear. I didn't think you could run 17psi on a stock fuel system thats why your mod list confused me a bit.

Sounds like I made the right decision after all. Here is to hoping we both can upgrade our fuel systems soon so we can really tap this turbo's potential. :thumb:

Evo injectors and walbro 190 are ready to be installed, I'm just waiting to get the dejon smic upgrade (real soon), wideband, and the apexi afc neo. No point in installing injectors if you cant controll them properly

i have the garret big t28 and i like it. spools up right at 3000 rpm and holds boost all the way to redline. was boostin up to 18 but now i'm safely at 15. got mine from the gpopshop, supposed to be a rebuild but they were so backed up they sent me a brand new one. i was happy. they bolt right on with no extra bullshit.

hey im thinking about ordering the garret big t28 from Mits/DSM Turbos, is yours ported? how does it run with the stock Exahust mani?, does anyone know if it has the same flow as the FP BIG T28, ? cant make up my mind,

ps: garrett is $100 cheaper

thank you!

Mangina is having a group buy on the vrs short route fmic. If you don't mind the wait, you still have time to get on the list and get dibs on the GP price.

Why not go with a FMIC if you have a stock looking turbo? Upgraded intercoolers and intercooler piping is legal on factory turbo cars:confused:

You may want to look into the Evo/3G MAS swap with your Evo injectors. No tuning involved. I'm in the process right now of doing the same. Cut down big time on cost. You can read more in this thread.

hypnoticpimp posted that a year and a half ago haha

He said he did buy it ported. Im assuming it would work fine with your stock exhaust manifold. It says its a direct bolt on. Im not sure about the differences between the two

From the manufacture's website.

The FP-Big28 is our second generation of stock appearing turbos that are super responsive, and pack some serious power. The FP-Big28 wraps cutting edge Garrett Ballistic Concepts internals in the unassuming shell of a stock 2nd gen turbo. This turbo walks softly, but it carries a big stick.

A Wolf in Sheep's Turbine Housings
The FP-Big28 uses modified T25 compressor and turbine housings, which means this turbo could trick its mamma into thinking it was a T25. Don't let that cute little shell fool you, however, because on the inside it's 100% pure evil. We carefully selected a compressor and turbine combination that provide massive flow capabilities and very little back pressure. Doesn't sound like a big deal? Did we mention it makes full boost in just a hair over 3000rpm, and holds solid all the way to redline? Now we're cooking with gas.

Thank you, drive through.
Our goal with the FP-Big28 was similar to its FP-T28/28 predecessor to create a fast spooling, bolt on turbo that got up and went. We wanted to give the FP-Big28 a little more "umph" than the T-28, but when we strapped one on a 2G AWD and took it to the track, the results knocked us on our ass. At 21psi, the FP-Big28 pulled our full weight 99 GSX to an [email protected].

One Size Fits All
This turbo has enormous potential, and in almost any DSM application from street, to autocross, to drag racing, we recommend the turbine housing porting. The FP-Big28 has got you covered like a jimmy hat. This 100% new turbocharger is sold outright and does not require a core turbo exchange.

Forced performance doesn't play. Any FP Series turbo is an upgraded version of the orginal. I.E. FP Big T-28 is gonna be a bit better than a Garret Big T-28. Call them and ask them exactly what they do if would like to know. Yes they do carry some regular turbos. But only ones that are extremely popular such as the evo 16g. But that one is clearly labled a Mitsubishi Product, not a FP product.
