SO as of the weekend after Christmas i blew a head gasket on the newish motor i put in my car, since then i have resurfaced the head from a local machine shop, dropped a permatorque on and called it a day,
the engine was running ok ( still need to tune it better) but last night i changed the plugs. i noticed a miss while driving quite alot. cylinder one plug had a snapped/broken tip
20 mins after the problems below i pulled the plugs and the ceramic part of the plug in cyl1 is broken
nothing came out of the cylinder while blowing compressed air in it.
on top of this. i put ngk bpr7es's in seeing as im running a hahn super 20g and hahn front mount.
took it for a spin, she pulled pretty good. but got boggy shortly thereafter.
pulled off to get coffee and the car stalled out at the light. pushed it through the intersection and into a parking lot and well my coolant overflow was full and bubbling like no tomorrow. she did suck back in shortly after.
longblock specs
ARP headstuds (made sure they were properly torqued)
bc 272 cams
bc valvesprings and retainers
fidanza camgears
Gates blue tbelt.
fresh resurface
stock bottom end ( was waiting on stroker but had no choice to use stock bottom end from another 4g64 engine)
my temp needle in the car didnt go above half .
secondly ever since shes been running rough but from the weekend prior to christmas i know what a spun bearing sounds like. (built an engine over the holidays using a spare shortblock i had in my room where it was clean and dry)
My valve cover i did notice a crack in the plug gally bolt hole closest to the tbelt. i noticed it leaking.
in conclusion
im assuming badtstat was the culprit for the bubbling overflow?
i did put an aluminum rad in and all new silicone hoses for the coolant lines as well.
and im also assuming the timing may be off because of the oil from the vc crack?
why is cylinder 1 killing plugs?
its my only car at the moment ive spent alot in the last 3 weeks trying to get it going again
any help would be appreciated.
