Sylvan Lake,
My big 16G is not building full boost until about 4000 RPM. Its been doing it since I got the car I just thought it was normal until I rode shotgun in my buddies 1G TSi with basically the same set up. The air filter in the car was collapsed for a little while so I'm just worried some sand or something might have gotten in the turbo? I shook it down for boost leaks and it was holding strong. Also I'm wondering if the intercooler might be clogged (if thats even possible). Hopefully its something as simple as a re-tune.

Any of you guys had the same problem?

Boost leak test :)

a Friend couldnt get his gst running right with his 16g (slow spooling/slow feeling).. he had a million leaks ROFL

Edit: air filter collapsed??? can you spin the turbo by hand easily?

and you have no exhaust leaks..right?

i guess we ll want more info on the cars current set up(mods etc)

edit2: you bought the car with these mods?

hey with any air mods it should be spooling faster.. aka breathing better. Is there an exhaust leak. Is there a clog in the charge side turbo, or is there play in the shaft? Also you might check to see if your wastgate is staying open and boging you down

Replace the air filter. If it collapsed, it means that it was seriously clogged. Rally cars have a turbo restrictor to increase lag time if that tells you anything.

It sounds like a boost leak to me. Or maybe an exhaust leak which you could probally hear at idle. Make a boost leak tester and test for leaks. You can use like really soapy water over like the throttle body area or areas where you can hear a leak but can't quite pin point it.
