I want to drop my car about 1.5 inches. What springs and shocks are most reliable and won't bounce like a low rider?

Their is a vendor on this site that makes a strut/spring combo. I have lowering springs on NAPA shocks and I like the ride it has. But its called DGR. Im pretty sure their adjustable for ride highth. Hope this helps.

I currently have suspension techniques springs and KYB Gr2 shocks with new bump stops and front and read strut tower bars. While nowhere near a performance setup, It makes for a better than stock yet very streetable ride. I am pleased with the setup considering I only drive the car maybe 1-2K/yr.

Putting out the "best" will give you some incorrect results. If you want the best coilover system, you would be looking at spending AT LEAST 2k at the minimum. Even my TEiN Flex system isn't even classified as a "good" setup. It's just a "higher" low end setup that you are partially paying for the name.

If you want cheap-o "coil overs" then you have k-sport, megan, DGR, and basically any others in that same $700-$900 price range.

I don't think he once said anything regarding cheap coilovers, he's talking a good set of springs and struts for a street car. Not everyone drives race cars...nor feels the need to have race parts. Basic strut/spring combos are fine for those that may not have the budget for even $900 coilovers.

I like my eibach pro-kits with KYB struts. They are not superb for handling, or ride quality, but they do lower the car a bit, and make it a bit more planted. I can afford to buy good coilovers, but I just got my newest DSM, and am just dd'ing it for a while. Over the winter it's getting a makeover.

I like my eibach pro-kits with KYB struts.

Eibach Pro = $250-$300
KYB struts = $470ish

Total = $700-$800 (range)

You are only a couple hundred away from having an adjustable coil over suspension...

I paid $150 for my springs, and $400 for struts. I suppose you have a point, all dependent on what sort of deals you can get though.

If you want the best.. Go Ksport

KSport USA - Performance Suspension | Coilovers/Big Brake Kits/Air Suspension/Alignment Parts for Honda, Nissan, Acura, Infiniti, Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Lexus and other Performance Cars

Your looking at about 1,400 for the cheaper ones.

I had the Ksport Rally Spec GR and they were just under 2k. Unbeliveable ride.

Comfort, adjustability, control, response, dependability.

They are amazing. :thumb:

Best I could come up with on this.

They are talking about the lower end product in the thread so I'm un sure how the above would list in with it.

The best? For who? For what situation? Compared to what other products? I'd still rather have a Koni coilover setup with proper coaxial mounts in the front for a 2g. If your 2g setup doesn't have coaxial mounts in the front, it's most definitely not considered "the best" solution.

OP - if you're just looking for a cheap solution and don't care about actual handling or ride quality, then yes, go with just about any lowering spring on the market that will lower the car to your specs and buy some cheap shocks. If you want better quality (ride quality and materials), get some Konis to go with your lowering springs. Those shocks will be better than every other shock and just about any of the cheap coilovers (sub $2000 kits) on the market.

Guess, i should of said no coilovers LOL. Coilovers are diffently pushing it for me financially as im completing a stroker build n some other things on my car. But im definitely going to look into the shocks and springs that were posted. Still interested in other set ups under 600. Just a dd car. Just dropping it for looks and better than stock handling

Anyone paying attention to what's going on with DGR would tell you it might be a little premature to recommend their products.

Oh, the huge manatee!

You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but the claim that K-Sports are the best enjoys no objective support at all. Someday, hopefully, being reminded of this post will make you cringe.

I had H&R sport springs with KYB AGX but found a deal for TEiN coil overs for pretty much free.
In my PERSONAL point of view, I feel the TEiN's handle better.

I payed $120 for springs and $420 for AGX's brand new.

You want cheap and decent, hunt ebay and the classifieds for some used Koni's and springs. I got a set of Konis and Ground Control coilovers for a few hundred bucks used and they're still going strong 10k miles later.

OK, if we're going to repeat what we've said elsewhere one more time... To drop a 2G by 1.5" and not have a lousy ride with lousy handling, you want either a coilover that allows you to lower the whole shock body or you want Konis that have been shortened by an inch. The issue is bump travel in the front.

Except that the Koni Yellows on Eibach springs are probably better than any of the >900$ Coil-overs.

Really? If thats the case why does anyone buy coil overs? If the koni yellow and eibach kit is better than all of that for 200$+ Less?

Why would anyone buy coil overs then?

When Eibach and Koni are better than Tein at suspension, and they colaborate to make a special spring strut combo for eclipses that some how handle better than coil overs at a lower price let me know I am interested.

Because people look at the cheap shitty Chinese made coilovers with cool paint schemes, and 36 way adjustability and think "NEAT MUST HAVE".

Koni makes a good quality shock, the shocks in those D2s, Megan's, Low-End K-sport, and all of the other lower end coilovers are cheap and shitty. The valving is usually terrible, and the dampening/rebound adjustment don't really do much.

Yes the K-sports and similar cheap coilovers can help in drag setups where you need to preload the drivetrain. No they will not out perform a GC Sleeve or Quality drop spring a Koni with proper camber kits when it comes to cornering on say the street, or autox/road course.

As far as the tien flex system goes, there is a reason its 500$ more than the low end coilovers.

Its still not going to be nearly as good as a JIC, Hotbits, or Intrax system.

I've narrowed it down to three possibilities:

1. Because off-the-shelf is easier than having to cobble it together out of parts from several vendors.

2. Because only Chinese coilovers come in pretty colors.

or

3. Because people aren't very smart.
