Hi guys what is the best Spring & Retainer Kit to use on a 4g63. I plan on run 262/262 or 262/272 cams and I want to know what would the best Spring & Retainer Kit to use.

Best would be the single spring kiggly set. But they run around $450 for a set. If you plan on using a low cam profile like you are choosing, the Brian Crower set would do fine. Why you choosing suck low cam profile. I dont know any setup I wouldnt run at least 272's.

I am runing low cams cause I dont want a bad idle and sound funny when idleing. My bro has 272/272 and it sound funny and bad like it is missing. Brian Crower or hks valve spring and retainer are good.

so youre getting cams based on the sound? Anyways if you don't want a lopey idle raise the idle speed or dont get cams, I dont see how you could dislike that sound but that's just me.

Do NOT buy the Brian Crower springs and retainers under ANY circumstances. Barely revved to 8000rpm.

BC = JUNK

Here's why:

Spend that extra $50 and get the actual "Crower" springs and retainers or the Manleys. They both have proven to work well. Or spend the extra and get the Forced Performance Beehives or Supertechs. Or really splurge and get the Kigglys.

You mean that sound is awesome!! If you have something good to tune with you can usually get the idle to be pretty good. And if you can afford it, stay away from Brian Crower. Look at the pics that guy posted.

This hurts me inside...

On the serious side though: Don't waste your time with the 262's like others have said. Just go for the 272's and be done with it.

So 272/272 cams i should run. I want a good street cam that not to big and plan to buildmy new block to make 400-500hp. What cams should I use. I am think about going with 262/272 cams or should I go with 272/272?

262/272's will work perfectly fine for you but I would honestly go ahead and drop in 272/272's. Both are very streetable and will net you a better powerband.

I plan on running supertech or Crower sprin and retainers and cam I plan to run ffwd or crower. Mostly like I will run 262/272. but the 272's cams sound like they would be good for the power I want to make.

If you're on a budget pick up some used Evo 8-9 springs and retainers. They are beehive design and use a SUPER light weight aluminum retainer. I've been running them with Crower (not BC) 272's to 8200 RPM for 2 years and they have been great.

The best part is I only paid $50 for the springs, retainers, and locks from a local who had just upgraded his 8.

I dont have experience with the AMS springs but they look like a good product. If you plan on staying below 7500rpms the BC should work. My brother revs to 7500rpms all day on his 272's and BC springs. Once you start going above 8000rpms is where it gets scary.

This is not correct, they are magnesium.
