Hello people. I was just wondering where ya'll think is the best place to mount a Palm on a 1G. I was thinking about placing some velcro behind the Palm and sticking it to the passengers side dash. Anybody have any suggestions.

You might try looking through the gallery here on Tuners. There are a lot of pictures of loggers. If you do use Velcro clean the area first before you apply the Velcro or it wont stick worth a $hit.

On mine, I have my palm located right next to the center air vents on the rightside of the vents. Right where the dash curves downward. I used denatured alcohol to clean the area and then put some really good velcro on there to hold the palm. I glued the velcro directly to the back of the palm. I've got some comments on the palm location, etc.

I was recently thinking about this myself. I think a good place would be on the left side of the dash, in front of the driverside dash vent. Close the vent and mount it low enough to still utilize the side window defroster. I dont know that velcro would help much in this case though. I have yet to purchase my palm, but I have been thinking about placement alot lately. When I do get it and mount it Ill post and show ya'll how purtty it is:D
Personally, I dont like the look of it hanging off the pass side of the dash. it screams "please steal me!!"

Hmmmmm, I haven't mounted my palm yet, and I have a 2G but if it's as far away as my dash I have a hard time seeing the information it displays. I was planning on getting one of those suction cup note pad things and replacing the notepad with the palm, this would keep it out of my shift area and close enough to see it.

At my work I modified a cell phone vent holder, by grinding down the plastic until it was flat. Then I used a fat patch of velcro to attach the PDA to the vent holder. It slides perfectly into the left most vent, and you can't see tacky velcro on the dash. Never has fallen off under 6k drops. I'll snag some pictures tommorow. Lates...

More information:
Basically its just small velcro mount that holds your PDA in clear vision so you can log and drive at the same time. This is a really sweet idea. So far the two other people that have this installed on their dash seem to really like it. It beats holding it in your lap or in the seat next to you.

I give you all the parts and can install it also (requires drilling into dash- 2 small holes-) All you need to do is put velcro ont he back of your palm and thats it.

Also I found a way to hook up the PDA to the cars 12 V power source, without using the serial connector on the palm. This is so you dont have to change the batteries all the time and can just leave it in your car. I can make this too if people are interested.

I just inserted the cover in the slot of the vent and pushed it in most of the way, now I can just clip it in or out whenever.

I put two strips of the soft side of the velcro on the back of the palm, one on either side.

Then I put two strips on either side of the driver side air vent (I don't use the regular vents, the center is blocked off anyway). It's easily visible to me, not conspicuous to anybody else, located right near the diagnostic port, and works great.

I tried looking for a place out in the open to mount my logger but couldn't find anything excptable. So I ran the cable under the step plate around behind the seat and into the console. So anytime i need to log I just open the armrest and pull it out.

Here's my quick and free mount for my m125
