I think at the Tb elbow is the most accurate measure before the motor consumes it. That's where i have min. It definitely needs to be after the inter-cooler. but if you're mapping your own EMS it really doesn't matter where it's at as long as you know how to set up the air temp map properly. Or if you're on huge injectors you can just zero it out and deal with a very slight fluctuation in AFR's and let the closed loop take care of the trimming.

But your best bet is still at the TB so that when you're comparing IAT's with some one, you will have readings that are similar to other's.

Mine is on the inside of the bend in the TB elbow, If it's a standard GM style IAT, the drill bit needed is 37/64th's ( or take a 9/16th's and wiggle it a tad after going through the material. The 37/64ths is a hard to find, that's why I mention the 9/16ths and wiggling it.

What are you trying to measure? Are you wondering how much heat your IC sheds, or how hot the compressor cranks up the air temperature, or what the motor's eating?
