Best Magnaflo Muffler for a 1g fwd

do you drive a mustang or a camaro?

So you're saying you don't like Magnaflow for an import? Exhaust flow is exhaust flow. My Evo put down 620whp on a Mustang Dyno with a Magnaflow exhaust...and that was limited by injectors.

Why not just do it rather than ask? Get a down pipe and have a 3 inch custom made and weld your magnaflow up.
My buddy put a magnaflow on his catless wrx and it sounded good. But it didn last long. Within 6 months it was rusted to hell.

Next time, tell him to spend the extra money and get a stainless steel muffler, not a mild steel one. Then he won't have those issues!

:thumb: you got me. not necessarily import, just not this breed of car.

There are a few different Magnaflow mufflers that work well with our cars. The N1 style (big round muffler) is what my Evo has. It's loud as shit, but damn does it make some power and is very "straight" thoughout the whole exhaust. However, N1 style mufflers look piss poor to me on DSMs. I like the look of a more flat muffler...like the looks of a traditional Magnaflow muffler that's dual or triple chambered. However, it's not the best setup for a boosted car!

I have a 5" round 3" inlet\outlet straight through and it is freaking loud in the car. It's all I can use though as I am going side dump. Makes me miss my Dynomax Super Turbo.

Go HERE for a good muffler. Stainless steel and is the round canister style. However, it has the smallest outside diameter (4") while still retaining a 3" inner diameter. If you are going to be running a 2.5" exhaust, you can probably find a 3.5" O.D. muffler there on Summit as well.

I have a 3" flow master 40 series deltaflow muffler on my TSI and it sounds absolutely amazing, its not ricey or really loud, i think it is perfect. I have heard a lot of different exhaust tones for dsms and the only real thing that changes from muffler to muffler is how loud and raspy your exhaust is. Call it a bias opinion, but i think flomaster is the best sounding muffler for our cars. :hellyeah:

i forget which brand of mufflers does this, but they have a sound deading or dampening by bouncing the sound from the exhaust to one side then the other, and it cause compressor surge because it pushes the exhaust on it's self. Has anyone of you guys felt this, i know it's on one of the ones that is more frequently used by "muscle" or american made cars just forget the brand i'll look into it again.

You can do a side exit magnaflow setup like i have, IMO i like it better than my thermal system on my old TSI. You can either do the MagnaPack design or the round design like i have. Both are nice but the magnapack is basically a nice sounding glasspack.

Bigger the muffler (volume) the quiter it will be. You will want the race style as it's a straight through design to limit back pressure but a chambered muffler will have the best sound deadning.

On my car I used a 18" oval 3" single inlet/ 3" dual outlet with a high flow car and 2 resonators. The sound was deep and loud with a loud drone. My new design will incorporate the 5" round muffler somewhere after the cat to help with sound.

It is deff. a solid muffler built with performance in mind and not to mention you can keep it from bringing attention to yourself as well by limiting your tip size and using an oval muffler like stock.

Good luck with your choice but as stated, if you want to lower the dB of the exhaust, fit the largest muffler you can.

not quite sure what you're getting at but you can tune an exhaust for an n/a car to kind of pull the exhaust out of the cylinders and it's all based on shock waves bouncing back and forth. turbo cars are best left muffler free, and the turbo is in itself enough of a muffler to quiet the car down.
