The Kinetic kit is very good. I have talked with those guys at shows and they are very knowledgable about intercoolers and turbos especially. If they make the kit, I am sure it is top notch. I personally run the larger JR kit and I drove down and picked it up 5 hours away from where I live just to make sure it was as quality as he said. IT IS. I run the same core he uses on his 1200hp 300zx with the V8 & T-88 turbo. We drove around in it and it is INSANE. We did a few passes and then I got out and felt the intercooler and only about a 6th of it was warm to the touch.

His intercoolers cool very well despite their thinner profile. The smaller core being mentioned is for a Evo 16Gd turbo sized car, and works very well. JWoody has one on his 95 GSX and runs an EVO3 16G @ 20psi. As long as you buy one of the kits mentioned you will not have problems. :thumb:

If you look at SBR street core, the straightline specialties, they are smaller than the one I posted. So I don't know what core you are running but most people want to keep there inner bumpers. I have the GRE 2G race kit on my car and I am very happy with it.

the pics you posted of your car and the pic of the kit the cores look nothing alike, it looks half the size of the one you have on your car.

i just counted your'rs is a 15 row core the one in the pic is only 10 so i was right

(and for reference i run the sbr race core)

That is because you counted the street core, I have the race core. The street core is 7" high and the race is 10" both are 32" long. Most I see around are 24, so what is your point?

my point was the pic you posted "looked like" the ebay one on the first page - to which you replied "doesn't look anything like the ebay junk ic's" to which i stated "yes it does" then you put up pics of your core which isn't even the one you were originally defending

Give em a break. It's the same CORE. Just cut down in height for "street" or "race" setups, i.e. more surface area. Besides, the "street" core still hides up behind the bumper cover, but length-wise, it is still the same.

but that's not what the discussion was about it was about my statement saying it looked like the ebay one and he jumped on me sayin "what the hell you lookin at"

seriously, instead of the end tanks does that not look like the same kit?

The "best" intercooler kit for a 2G may be this one:
http://dvdtfab.com/2g_intercooler_kit.htm

It's more expensive than the two being discussed above, however. But those end tanks are just kickass. And it uses a Spearco core- I think I may be shelling out the extra bucks to get one, even though you have to lose the fogs.

"Please specify color for silicone hose couplers, otherwise whatever is available will be shipped, and you will end up with non matching colors for your silicone hose couplers resulting in at least a 10-25 hp loss."

I'm not sure if this is a joke or im really just that inept.

Hey Guys,

Just some thoughts. If your considering purchasing a Garrett core charge air cooler make sure you have sufficient flow through the front end. We here at Victory Performance tried to use them with limited success on daily driven DSM's. You really need to focus on getting sufficient air flow throught them. I'm not saying we didn't go fast on them because we did. They do however have a tendancy to make the cars run hotter. You can especially see this when your data logging. High water temps. will cause your ecu to pull timing (timing is power). See where this is going.

I'd have to say our cores along with the spearco cores (which are similar) work very well and support more power than you'll ever make. Especially on a street car.

While I can't speak for the other vendors we've always taken the extra step to design our end tanks as efficiently as possible. While I agree cast tanks are very nice they're not cost effective for us to make. Believe me, I've spent a lot of time trying to get them done. That being said, we've got the best sheet metal fabrication you'll find. Not sure check out our 1G dsm end tanks. Very trick.

One last thing to consider when purchasing an intercooler system which way to many people over look. Pay attention because this is important. Quality of Air flow is king. This is one reason our O2 housing are so effective and successful. Far to many vendors make FMIC kits that are "short route piping" or make 90 degree turns and are inexpensive. This is the biggest mistake you can make. Your spending big money on an important part, make sure it counts. Air like any fluid does not like to change directions once set in motion. Other kits that have multiple 90 turns cause turbulance. (Turns not only in the end tank design but the tubing as well, smooth flow is key here). Turbulace causes back pressure. Back pressure causes loss of power. Follow this link for a simple well written article on the importance of air flow. www.bankspower.com/tech_howairflows.cfm

Need more information, feel free to ask.

JR fmic is awesome...

look at my sig thats his kit right there...

now u can get it for about 280 and if u do ur own piping u can get away with 400$...

fills the whole bumper plus goes all the way down to the bottem of the bumper (where you cant see)

look at my sig!

I don't think of JR's intercoolers as Ebay intercoolers, his are top notch. The coolers i think of when I hear ebay are all the Red Dog, godspeed, dynamic trends, and all of these companies that sell the same junk intercoolers.
