my car is a 97 N/A front rotor, rear drum and i need to replace the fronts again, cuz my backs failed on me and warped my new 130 dollar rotors... so i was wondering from experience what you guys found to be the best rotors and pads out there. I currently have brembo cross drilled and i wont do cross drilled again cuz they are worthless. and please dont take offense or fight me on this, i researched brakes and found that unless you have BIG rotors, cross drilling actualy makes braking worse. So im just looking for like blank rotors and pads that will cut my stopping distance down a bit and NOT FADE i commute like 100 miles a day and have to constantly brake do to traffic so brake fade is a no no. thanks in advance for any tips you guys can offer. I am fairly impressed with brembo, but if anyone knows of better, but not too expensive share

3 reasons why the rotors are warping. one your are using raybestos ceramic pads. (akabono is the best for normal driving very rotor friendly and almost no dusting plus they are a real cool running pad.), next rotors could be warping due to not torqueing the wheel down and just tightening the lug nuts how ever people do it impact etc, etc., or you are testing your 100mph to 0 mph a lot. another thing when coming to a red light don't press and hold the brake till you stop let off and then back on a few times that reduce warping to.

as for rotor choice its not size of rotor when saying cross drilling its carbon content (normal brembo rotors are not high carbon rotors)(when you see high carbon rotors you will know by the price because you will say my car didn't even cost that much) of the rotor and you can be rich as hell and have ceramic rotors. either way cross drilled rotors that last should be in the neighbor hood of about $500 - $1000 a piece. if you are trying to just get by a day at the track then the cheap $140 brembo's are fine, but after that day they are cashed.

pad wise if you are looking for street performance hawk would be the way to go but they will wear your rotors fast. oem brembo is what i have and i have destroyed a lot of rotors some in a week. but these i am quite surprised with these. cross drilling only helps in wet weather for the price of the rotors you are talking about.


my recommendation would be oem brembo rotors and akebono ceramic pads.
then when you have to brake really hard push the button in and hold it on the parking brake pull the parking brake at the same time to take some of the load off the front brakes. this will also help to keep front rotors from warping don't pull the parking brake hard enough to lock the wheels but to help slow you down you will get the hang of it.

and if any one says anything to you about using your parking brake to help stop your car when brakeing don't listen to them, they are just a poser and most likely pay people to work on there car. although some one may tell you get a proportioning valve which basically is the same principle as pulling the parking brake but you don't have pull it, the valve will put more pressure in the rear brakes than normal.
