Hey guys, I just had a quick question. Would the dual piston GSX brakes be good enough for autocrossing? I just don't want any fade, and decent stopping power. I have the singles on it now with warped rotors, so I was just thinking ahead. This car is a daily driver as well. I just didn't want to spend $1000 on brakes just for use in autocrossing. Thanks.

I suppose I'm answering my own question by saying I don't want $1000 brakes...But I'm wondering if the stock dual piston calipers are up to it?

Yes they will hold up just fine. I would suggest installing stainless steel brakelines and upgrading the pads to improve the feel. But the stock calipers and rotors are up to the task for autocross.

Fade in an autocross? Not likely.
I'd be more interested in both linear pedal feel- hoses, and cold reaction pads- HP+ perhaps.

Rotors, fluid type, caliper type, piston qty, and fade are of far lesser value.

Actually, given the left-foot braking (to maintain boost) that many of us do, anything less than Greens or R4-Ss can be cooked before the end of a run. The first time that I faced a "stop box" at the end (in Canada, eh?), I killed Kenny.

I have the dual pistons and they help considerably. Just get some better pads as suggested and steel braided lines and you'll be fine for autox. I have stainless lines on mine but with stock pads which work fine but wont last long.

I appreciate the input. I think I'll get the dual pistons unless I can somehow fabricate brackets for 3S calipers.:rocks:

Ive never had a problem in autocross even with a lot of left-foot braking. I am using Axxis Ultimates for autox and daily driver use. Defeinitely up to some nice ss braided lines and fluid. Honestly most autox only last 30-90 seconds. And not at high enough speeds to really produce all that much heat, if using a street/race pad such as metalmasters. Oh and stop-boxes are fun. I came in way too hot one time and the guy working stop box had the widest eyed-face of all time. Unfortunately I was on really really shitty tires and didnt realize my tires would lock up so easily. So I Took out about half the stop-box cones...LOL.

PS- You really dont need anything bigger than the dual pistons GSX calipers. Remember, brakes are unsprung weight, go to big and YOU WILL feel the difference. For autox use there is no need and it will actually hurt you to go too big of a setup.

Most aftermarket calipers are aluminum which even though much bigger, weigh about half as much as stock steelies.
