Hey, I just got a 99 mitsu eclipse gs. Its a 5spd and its completely stock. Im thinking about putting on a catback, header, cold air intake, and throttle body. Is there anything else that isnt permanent that i can do to get some more speed? Also is there anyway that i can get in the high 15s with these type of mods?

Nitrous- a Zex wet kit hooks you up with 75 horse.
Turbo kit- Star or Hahn or make your own- puts you at 14's faster with supporting mods
get your bolt ons add an underdrive pulley, and thats about it... good luck, you can also try www.2gnt.com

Oh sorry I meant to say that i wanted to keep it an N/T for reliability issues, because I don't have too much money to be fixing it all the time.

There's also weight reduction, like your spare tire but also check out under the spare tire the rear winsheild washer resovior. Take that out cause you don't really use it that much (depending on where you live I should say).

Another bolt on you should consider for faster 1/4mile times are Slicks, I'm thinking of getting me some to lower those 60' times.

well :sneaky: ... the man does have a point ;) I would have to agree.

if you get the throttle body, the intake doesn't match up to the bigger bore TB. Porting and Polishing your intake manifold will bring out the most in your motor. When I got my 60mm TB and P&P my Mani, it was the biggest gain I had seen. If you want into the 15's, port and polish intake manifold, UDP, CAI, Headers, Exhaust, and some sticky tires.

CAI
Headers
Cat-Back exhaust
AFX udp
Bored out TB

Thats about it unless you want to stay N/A then you could do a complete rebuild from the oil pan to the vavle cover.

*eBay short ram w/ K&N filter
*used header
*GST axle back exhaust
*AFX UDP

*little weight reduction before you go to the track (be sure you're less than 1/4 on gas)

*PRACTICE

That should get you into high 15s. One of the fastest 2GNTers in the country clicked off a 15.3 and he was mostly bolt ons at that point. Practice can make up for a lack of mods to some extent.
