Belt wont line up

So I recently put a new motor in and now my one serpentine belt is squealing. And just by looking at it I can see the a/c compressor is too far in and the pulley is pulling the belt over onto the crank pulley. But how could the a/c be off by that much? I can't move it out. When I tighten it back up te bolts pull it back over. Thanks for reading, I'm confused

if you took the pully off it may have been put back on backwards. i know on the water pump that will move the belt 1/8-1/4 inch outta wack

I didn't take the pulley off the compressor. I just had te compressor off the bracket that holds it. That's what stumps me.

sometimes easiest way to fix it is walk away and take another look tomorrow and it will make sense right away.

dont know how many times i fought to muscle something together to come back the next day and it slides together instantly

all belts have a tensioners your ac should not be off its bracket at all. tighten ac back up loosen ac tensioner pulley then put belt on, and tighten ac tensioner pulley until its taut.
