my 99 gst 's belt squeaks after it sits for a bit. It does it for about 20 seconds then goes away til it sits for a few hours again.

I think for a while. I bought the car from my buddy and he told me it did it when he had it also. the belts look pretty descent. I put some belt goop on it and it helped a little but its doing it again. Maybe just replace the belts huh

Check the belt for cracks or any sign of dry rotting if its not cracked or dry rotted, then check the tension of the belt should be about a 1/8th of an inch if thats fine, then apply belt dressing it will quiet down that belt. If none of that works then its new belt time.

Thanks guys its been driving me nuts. People look but then I give her some pedal and they smile. Love the fp3052 with open wastegate :)

I wouldn't waste money on belt dressings and what-not, just get a new belt and be done with it. That stuff is only gonna work for so long, then the squeak again. From what you say, that belt is what I call "glazed". Save yourself time, money, and frustration.

have the exact same problem with my alternator/power steering pulleys and belts. guy i bought it from put too long of a bolt in the waterpump so it scraped the powersteering belt:ohdamn: so i pulled the pulleys off(which takes forever without lifting the engine) then i had problems putting those pulleys back on after i fixed that bolt. lifted the engine, bolted the pulleys back on and bought a new power steering belt still squeaks if you give it gas when its not warmed up. i hear its a common/regularly occuring problem with these cars, im going to try to powdercoat my pullys to see if that helps, ill let ya'll know:D
