Belt Issues =(

Ok when i first bought my car about 1 month ago ive got all my belts replaced(including the timing belt) which was about 3 weeks ago......IN the 3 weeks timeframe that ive got my belts replaced my power steering belt fell off one time(bout 2 weeks back) in a street race so i got it fixed the next day then last night i was driving on the freeway and floored it to 100 from about 60mph and it shredded apart under my hood..WHats up with my belt/pulleys? :thumbdown

that happened to me once when my power steering was going bad...anytime the car would rev high the power steering pump would freeze for a sec and shred the belt...not sure if its the same problem but your the 5th person i know that had that issue and it fix the other 4

sounds like a pump/pulley problem. My P/S pump's pulley has a slight wooble in it. If I get about 6k it'll throw the belt right off. !#$^ POWER STEERING!! WHO NEEDS IT!!

had the same problem. when they put the belt on it takes a few days for it to streach then when it does you need to tighten it again. if you don't when you rev high it will throw it and sometimes cut the spit out of it.

What about harmonic damper/crankshaft pulley? Check it.

Yeah i just got the new belt on yesterday and the shop that did it told me to come back in a week and have it checked out....

The shop said that the crank pulley wobbled very slightley at high rpm but nothin bad enough to throw the blets off or anything( at least that what they told me)

It shouldn't wobble AT ALL. Replace your harmonic balancer.

Crank pulley wobble leads to F'ed up Crank....not good.

It shouldn't wobble AT ALL. Replace your harmonic balancer.

Where is the harmonic balancer? How much is it to replace(roughly) and what does it do?

Yeah bullet i should of went to a diffrent shop i went to firestone(bad mistake)........By the way this morning on the way to work my alternater belt shredded halfway off and flipped upside down but did break off..Now its back at the shop :thumbdown but luckily everything is free....Oh yeah one more thing today when i called the shop they noticed that when i got all my belts replaced(from them) they said they might of bent the alternator bracket (no way in telling if it was them or not)so they noticed that is was not aligned perfectly.
