I belive thats already been said.

why don't you just get out of this thread? Noone wasn't to hear your opinion on how you belive the 1.8 to suck or whatever. So post your crap somewhere else, just not in this thread. It's people like you who screw up messege boards like this.

Btw laser, as fast1.8sohcDSM said, you should rebuild it with some performance parts, it would be better in the long run for ya.

yeah I have that part established, im gonna use JE pistons and Eaglke rods and not sure what else, those (JE, Eagle)are the best Ive seen for the price.

yeah. I was impressed to see kalani (ginsu417) running 250 whp and 236 torque. thats pretty damn good.

it will almost be like a 2.0 except I will still have better gas mileage and Ill be faster 0-60

ya. that will be damn funny. no after I finish (and start) and Mr.Pikolo mods his car a little we'll probably get a video up since we live like a mile or two away. with our luck he'll hit a tree and my engine will blow up so it wont matter anyway.

hey man,
dont listen to some of these people.u bought the car so do what u want.i think its a good idea turboing the 1.8.ull get good mpg,no worry about a timing belt screwing ur work up,and its different.ive heard of a few ppl puttin turbos on their 1.8s.i know import performance(one the dsmtuners sponsers) sells the 4g63 kit for 409.00.(almost 100 less than mach v)and they also have wiseco forged pistons for 399,which aint to bad.go for it and keep us posted.l8r.

Fast 1.8's most recent comment was actually this.

So I finally am saying, don't rebuild your 1.8. Its not worth it. No don't try to turbo it, don't try to jump JE's in it. Its not worth your time. Seriously.

And since you are serious about building your 1.8, you should special order the JE piston now because it will probably be a 1 month turnaround on them. Kalani and fast1.8 had to special order their pistons by giving JE the specs they needed.

yeah im not worrying about that till summer of 04. this summer im just gonna rebuild and run 6 or 7 psi.

Well, I never saw the post were he said this on this thread, show me where.

so he is saying I should buy some japanese engine have to pay shipping and not sure if im getting what I paid for rather than rebuild the engine myself and maybe take it to a shop for some stuff?

personally id rather do all that stuff. Id like to have the experience of doing this. Im gonna be a automotive technician when I finish school so it would be good to know this stuff.

id like to get a better feel for the engine as im gonna turbo it and do the work myself.

Alright. Lets get this straight.

If you want to make power with a motor that has 92 horsepower stock, do it. It is fine to do it, and I am doing it because people said it can't be done. Now what I am saying is, it isn't worth it if you are JUST looking to be a 12 second Eclipse out there. You will pour so much money into the 1.8L, that you will end up seriously in the hole. Don't get me wrong, nothing is wrong with these engines. They just don't have the displacement, nore the stroke to pull off such times, UNLESS they have been built to handle it. I don't really know how much power I will be having, and unfortunately, I have had to up my done date to September due to more bills adding to my pile. But also, I have added a FMIC to that list, and I am working on a setup that will get me into the 12's quite easily, and could make me some dough :) . If you want to have a fast 1.8L, and prove to be a 13 second car, or 12, be my guest, but it isn't going to be easy. It is more worth it just going and buying a GSX and pouring your money into that ride. I like non-interference, non-crank walking, and distributor engines due to the lack in computer controlling. It is much easier for me to find problems with my car, then with a 2.0L 4G63/420A. I like my car, I want to make it a 12 second car, and I am going to spend well over 7,000 just in parts to prove I can be that fast.
