I have headers, catback exhaust high flow cat and cold air....im thinking about turbo but i already know that i'll lose my headers but what about the other parts.

also is there anything i need to know about turbo kit...fuel, pistons etc.

thanks

You'll lose the intake, exhaust will be fine. Depending on your miles on the car you will want to rebuild that engine. Upgrade your injectors depending on how much HP you plan on tryin to get. Stock internals are good for up to 10-11lbs of boost with a good tune and the right fuell. Also if you get a turbo kit, got with the Hahn, stay away from STAR, and if you do go Hahn, shell out the extra cash and go for the stage 2 its def worth it.

he can keep his intake and cut it to make it a cold air for his turbo if he wants. why stay away from STAR?

10psi are you on crack, thats way to risky you can run it but if your looking to take chances at blowing your engine go for it, im running 5psi and its a custom setup 900 bucks for it all garret super60 T3 which would destroy the power any Stage 2 turbo kit, but its also harder to put together a custom turbo tracking down all the parts you need. max psi safe zone is 7 on stock internals, its recommend on any turbo no matter that size even if its a 14b

The doing the custom job will big pain if you don't know what you are doing but in the end you will save alot of money if buy a star or HRC kit. A stage 2 Star is about 2800 and HRC stage 2 is about 3200. If money is your problem go with the custom kit. With $2800 you can get alot bang for your bucks. :thumb: :dsm:

On crack you say? I've been running 10lbs of boost on my stock internals for over a year now. Driving it hard at least once a week. With a 115,000miile engine. It is all about tuning and fuel. Thats what makes or breaks you. Get your car tuned by a experianced tuner and make sure you have the right fuel mods, fuel pump, injectors ect. and you will be fine. Hell you can run 10lbs of boost on a 3cyl metro if you tune right.

I only have 67k miles on my car...i think that the engine should be fine to handle it  , is it worth it to go turbo with a low mile car? :dsm:

i say go for it, cause i know how slow the RS is, even with all those non turbo mods. i turbo'd my eclipse at 89,000 miles and i run 5psi. My very highly suggestions are you do not boost above 7psi unless you want to risk throwing a rod out and maybe cracking your block in half. its your car so you can do what you want to it, but man if i had 60,000 miles on my car :p i miss those days LOL.
almost every non turbo/turbo person will tell you 7 at max i dont car how well your fuel and shit is, our cars are a 9.6:1 compression i believe it was its the compression that throws the rods out even if you tune it well your chances still run high, unless ur running that eclipse lean on 10psi which is stupid, my friends eclipse blew at 9 psi from worn down piston rings, it can happen at any time its just luck if you car accepts it ok

Please note: ronnie i dont see how the hell your eclipse can stand 10 psi with NO Intercooler !

I honestly dont know either, its holding up just fine, still runs like when i bought it, just alot faster. Its not like im a ricer idiot and dont know what im doing. Im just testing the limits of the engine since i have the money to rebuild with all forged internals. Just seeing how much abuse the 420A can actually take. And yes, with that many miles on the car, go for it, you will be fine. And about the compression, sure its hight but you can still boost the hell out of it. Look at the S2000, its compression is 11:1:1 and people have been boosting it since it came out.

compression isnt what makes it dangerous, that just makes it harder to tune and more prone to detonation. most people will say 10psi is you maximum safe limit, but thats usually with an intercooler... RONNIE you gotta bigger sack then me

:D Thanks, i think? LOL

So Ronnie, you are running with 10bls with no intercooler, I hope you upgrade your injector at least and using 93octane to prevent detonation. If you are going turbo you can run with 7psi with your stock fuel and should hit mid 14s in the quarter mile. That what aiming for when I go turbo with 7spi and then I will rebuild the engine :thumb: :dsm: .

Ya i def did, it would have been goin along time ago. Im runnin 450cc's and a Walbro 255.

yeah 7 psi is the normal safe zone after that you need to start thinking about bottom end work and fuel/timing controlers personaly i think hahn and star are both under par, hahn is runing small piping, and even with there fmic the the piping they use cuts your cfm and can cause a pressure drop. star is unreliable i think they have poor quality control from the factory. if you go kit go hahn and get custom intercoller piping and mid size turbo. should be good for around 15 psi after other work on eng, but can go 7 psi all day
