Ok I know it says everywhere that when you take you bearing caps off to keep them in order so you can put them back on...Well that didnt happen. So what order do the caps go in..If you can either send me a link or tell which page in chiltons then that would be great

There are all kinds of bearing caps - you need to be more specific. If you're talking about your cam bearing caps, they're labeled from the factory. I1,I2, etc are intake caps and E1, E2, etc are exhaust caps.

Since you have a 98 I'm assuming you are talking about the head since the main bearings have a girdle. The caps are all numbered.... it goes: I1, I2, I3, I4 and so on.... OMG

if you are talking rod bearing caps you can get a magnifying glass and careful match up the machining lines/swirls.

I hope you are talking about the cam bearing caps. Cause the rod bearings have to be matched up. Typically rods are individually cracked and only match with itself. But like everyone has stated...cam caps are numbered.

I don't think DSM big-ends are cracked.
