free mod restricter mods

I saw a 91 Eagle talon TSi yesterday that had one of the tubes on the Boost Control Solenoid Covered up by a piece of rubber. What is that doing... and is that a good thing?

sorry but i didn't know where to search

which hose should the bcs restrictor port be attached to? is it the hose going to the air can? or it is the hose going to the tee to the wg actuator and boost source?

thanks

I did this mod a couple weeks ago but, I forgot which hose. Un-plug the bcs, slide the hoses off and look into the 2 ports. One of them will have a much smaller opening. That's the one with the restrictor in it. I used a drywall screw, threaded it in slowing by hand and the restrictor began to come out. I then pulled the screw out with the restrictor attached to it.

yeah thanks

but i wanted to know where the hose going out from this smaller port goes to...

Ill snap a pic for you to compare. One goes onto the intake pipe & one is blocked off i think. I need to look to be sure. Be back w/ pics.

My fault. I guess I read it too fast. I don't have my car with me so, I can't look to see which port the ristrictor is in but, here's a pic showing the hose routing.

OK so I just checked the BCS to get the restrictor out, and to my surprise there aren't any hoses connected to it. I dont have a MBC from what I see the previous owner linked the wastegate hose to the bov with a T and thats linked to the intake WTF.. that looks really off, how to I reconnect the hoses? Ill post pics as soon as I can

Right now your just running off wastegate spring pressure. The factory bcs will atleast give you a bit more.
Bottom nipple is wastegate, top nipple goes to the t in the bov.
Just pretend the bcs is a manual boost controller.

oh cool, so the bottom nipple of the BCS goes to the WG and the top nipple goes to the bov and with the T it goes into the intake right>?

Simply look under the hood for this, if you want to hook up the factory BCS. Actually, I would disconnect the BCS electronically and check if its still good. Take an ohmmeter and test resistance across the two terminals. If you don't have that, just use a set of jumper wires and hook the solenoid up to a 12V battery and listen if it 'clicks'. When it's unpowered, it'c closed, you can't blow through. When hooked up to a battery, it's open, you can blow through.
