So I just took off my throttle body off my DSM and im trying to replace my seals due to a boost leak issue. It’s a BBK tb and I know they suck but it’s what I have to work with. This throttle body has bearings instead of what the normal tb has. Do I even attempt to take off the bearings and try to put the seals under or what do I do to fix the boost leak?

Could you pull the bearing, measure the ID and OD of the bearing and purchase the same?(part number may be on bearing) Possibly call bbk and ask if they have replacement bearings? Homesite

I think 90dsm TB have diff size seals compared to 91-94. This video has a lot of info & part numbers DSM TB review.

I'm using skf brand on an OEM TB. one of the comments on the video above states

Can you remind me what ID and OD stands for again please? And I recently watched that video mine is a 97 DSM so it’s the third TB he rebuilds but ima have to rewatch the video again and see what I can do. Also ima try to get these out but man they do not wanna budge I’ll manage.

The only way to make it work would be to machine a bronze bushing thinner than the bearing and then press in a seal. A seal alone won’t support the shaft’s load. At the end of the day, you’ll spend way more time and money trying to make it work than just buying another throttle body made for boost.

Source: have one myself and have invested more time than it’s worth messing with it.

You could as @snowborder714 for a rebuild kit

Thread 'Throttle Body Rebuild Kit' https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/throttle-body-rebuild-kit.479312/

The rebuild kits I sell work with OEM '91-'99 throttle bodies. If he was able to find a cheap OEM throttle body, he could get a rebuild kit and then have a working, easily serviceable unit.

I don't know anything about the BBK units or what they take. My best suggestion would be to reach out to BBK and ask them if they offer parts and/or a rebuild service.
