I wonder how many of the guys on here with Strut bars are running out to their cars and checking to make sure everything is covered or tied down right,

I just saw you post in the other guys thread that lost his GSX in a accident. Terribly sorry about your ride. Hope you get something worked out..

well my uncle called me today and said on the way home from work on hwy 684 he saw a jeep on fire that was totaled and reminded him of me,i was like thanks a lot

whats up with dsm's dying left and right lately? its a conspiracy against DSM! sorry to hear your misfortune man! good luck!

I own a 1990 eagle talon tsi awd and everything has been working until my battery died. I tried charging it and it didn't work so I took it to the local shop and they tested it and it was bad. So I purchased a new battery and installed it. After the install was done, I neglected to pay attention and closed the hood. It seems the battery they sold me was slightly bigger than the last and the positive terminal ended up touching against the hood. I didn't notice right away but after about 10-15 seconds I saw smoke coming from under the hood. I ran over to pop the hood but when I tried to open it, it had almost welded itself to the battery terminal. After pulling on the hood really hard I was able to break it free and in the process bend my hood:(. I am not to worried about the hood but now my car won't start. I exchanged the battery since this happened since I thought it might have killed the battery, but after replacing the battery again it still won't start. It gets power but as soon as I turn it to the crank position it dies. I have checked all fuses and non are blown. I have also tried another ecu and that dind't change anything.

I should also note that once I open the hood I could see what looked like solder on the battery tray right below the positive terminal connections. I checked the connections and they are all still tight and have good metal contacts.

What should I check next?

The same thing happened to me and it was a fuses in the fuses box under the hood. Don’t remember witch one though.

Test everything from the battery to the starter. There has to be a wiring diagram somewhere here for you to utilize. Follow the flow of power from the battery to the starter, I guarantee that you will find a blown component in there somewhere. Remove and replace.

Or check the ground wire. It could of fried that wire.

My battery shorted out on my damn strut bar once and it made my car die while driving. All I did was disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes, then took the bar off and reconnected the battery. Everything worked after i did that.

Update: I checked all the fuses again and tested the ground lines and the lines going to the starter. Everything is fine, Still no luck. If I disconnect the battery for a bit and then plug it back in the light by your feet and around where you insert the key will light up when they are supposed to and all power items will work until you try to turn over the engine. Then all power is cut and nothing can get power. I noticed if you turn the key back quickly you can get power again and try it again but if you hold the key in the crank position to long, the car won't have power to anything for several minutes. Another thing I noticed is that there is one click happening right before I loose all power. The click is coming from the little metal box right next to the ecu, which is apparently a fuel relay for the fuel pump and injectors.

If the fuel relay was bad would it cut power to everything?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
